Man for man our team is way better than brighton quality wise, yet they are 100x better than us as a team.

I agree to a point. On paper we should be playing much better if you look at the experience and skill set of the players.

However there's something about this group of players as a team (not individually) that is lacking. Whether that's a bit of nastiness, ruthlessness, or something completely different I'm not sure.

Recruitment is crucial here and it could be argued this has been the main problem over the last 5 years.

But is it, maybe up top but not so sure in defence & midfield? Just because ours cost more doesn’t mean they are better.
Their 2 full backs are better attacking than ours & they have Lamptey & March on the bench, either of whom I would welcome to our squad.
Dunk & Duffy are proper defenders & have shown they can play a bit too.
Gross & Trossard are good technical players who put a shift in as well.

Think I'd personally switch Emerson (not convinced by him yet) for Japhet, and Dier for Rodon.

That way, if Reguilon is pushed forward, Japhet can tuck in and create a solid back 3 with Rodon & Romero?

It's not a surprise after he played the full game midweek.

After playing so well he will feel (right imo) that he did enough to start this match. Agree him and Gil will be first attacking options off bench but just surprised he wasn't given a start with Ndombele to replace him from the bench if he doesn't have 90 mins in tank.

As said originally can't complain too much on line up with only Ndombele and dier as debatable ones.
