Just been on the phone to Sky, the woman on the other end of the line was obviously trying to read from some sort of hints screen based on what I said so she looked knowledgeable of the product when she was making conversation... asked who I supported and I answered Spurs.. a brief pause and a few clicks later and she said “ah yes, a good season they have had! And I was reading this morning that it looks like they are going to have to pay 62 million to sign.... to sign.... erm..... ‘Tangy Nungwombalay”

All I could manage was “....aww”

As others have said, The fact that only one (not very reliable) source is reporting United's interest means it's probably bullshit given the amount of leaks and links they have.

As revealed by the Brazilian media, Jean #Lucas expected Monday in Lyon to pass the medical visit and engage with the #OL . Transfer around 8M € for the Brazilian defensive midfielder. #RMCsport

Extremely reliable ^^^

We’re led to believe that this chap is relatively sensible and ambitious. I just cannot, for the life of me, see why he would be interested in Man Utd.

Uniteds ambition is probably to win the league next season, at least that's probably what ole is telling recruits.
They're still giants

Ain’t going to happen though, they’d need to spend £400-500m their squad is in such a poor state as I don’t see player sales doing much unless Pogba does make them £150m.

even if pogba went for 150m can you see woodward spending it wisely? especially after they've supposedly offered leicester 'stupid money' for maguire? They need to buy clever not necessarily just throw money around like it's going out of fashion. They're a disaster right now and only heading one way. They need to realise that the rebuild won't happen overnight but they're just blinded by the fact that they're rapidly falling behind and are beyond desperate to remain in the mix.

I don't think so. For where they are, and the rebuilding job that's needed, that would be a very unfair expectation/goal for OGS next season.

They're still a massive Club but who knows how long it will take to sort out, but it's not going to happen next season - in terms of competing for the title come the business end of the season.

You think Poch and the players don’t have that ambition and aren’t telling prospective hires that.

Tottenham Hotspur aren't Manchester United though.

They've won more trophies in the last 5 years than we've won in the last 20 .
I wouldn't underestimate their reputation or perception because of a few dodgy by their standard years

Yes, but equally, they're not what they were and a lot of players want to join teams who are the real deal when they're joining them, not a work in progress.

Ultimately though it's the wages United can still offer, but I think they'll be more careful with the handing out of massive contracts now.

If we were offering a similar financial package as United, for a certain player, and with similar game time assurances, performances withstanding, I think we look a more attractive Club at the moment.

The Pochettino factor, current CL finalists and recent progression - and above all the draw of the new stadium, could well appeal more than their history.

It's subjective of course, but United are no longer the dominant force they where and players think more about the here and now, and equate that to their futures over past glories. Again n IMHO.
