It's, all negotiating tactics
Taking the pressure off etc

Agreed. If Aulas says he needs to sell by 30th June he completely loses his negotiation power. He may be telling the truth, he might not be but if he had said anything different he completely throws any power he has when thrashing things out under the bus.

Why would they need to sell ndombele by 30th June?

There were reports that Lyon wanted certain deals and finances tied up before the end of their financial year so things look healthy for the accounts.

Not sure if that was gossip or real life but with Aulas commenting on it I think there are elements of truth to the date being of importance with any deals they were going to do before the summer. Maybe the Mendy to Real Madrid deal meant this had less importance.

Cheers, interesting to know. Could be some movement this week then... fingers crossed.

To add on to this: Similar to MUFC and Juventus, Lyon is a publicly traded club on the stock market. So, the more profit they can show for the 18/19 financial year at their end of year earnings announcement, the better it will bode for their share price.

It's obviously in the bag isn't it ? Aulas keeps coming out with statements linking 'big clubs' but no big club has come in to rival us to his signature. No firm bids, no bids being considered by X,Y or Z, no 'ongoing talks with players representatives'. Nothing. Just Spurs, with wages of £200k having been banded about and the players declaration that he's interest to join us. Every bit of ITK suggesting it's doable. The only teams that could realistically gazump us are Real Madrid and City and City have another confirmed target (who's declared he wants to leave to play for them) and Real have spent fortunes and have a million players on their books. Luckily for us Chelsea have a transfer ban ! It might drag on a bit longer purely because the lack of other suitors gives Levy more wiggle room to negotiate a lower fee. I'm off to get his name on my shirt.

I'd question how much of a driver that actually is - it's not like public market investors wouldn't be aware of the fact that the transfer had happened. Those number won't get released for around 6 weeks anyway, and the market should (in theory) be able to price it in as there would be a regulatory news announcement about it.

Far more important for them to get the right price than try and squeeze it in the financial calendar

It's pointless trying to read into his words too much but my guess is either a last minute call for bigger offers and/or just trying to appease the fans somewhat by talking about him wanting to leave and Mendes coming in. Aulas knows Levy won't fall for his BS so it's either one or both of those two.

In either of those cases we'll have agreed or be close to agreeing a fee and that'll be where we're at.

He's obviously not going to admit they need to sell this week or DL automatically drops the bid by £10m.

Yeah there was new rumours they now want ndombele done in july as theyre now in the green this year. It all sounds like bollocks doesnt it
Is it just google translate, but the tweet from Lyon has Aulas saying Ndombele is being asked by the biggest clubs. Thats not the same as asking to leave
He means, “He is wanted by the biggest clubs” I should imagine

10 whole pages since I last looked roughly 24 hours ago. And progress - I see none. Was hoping for something more concrete than Cheshunt!
