Trabant came on after 72 minutes on the stadium clock and got his first touch just before it showed 81 minutes. If he's to be an 'impact player' he needs to get involved earlier than that.

But at least it wasn't StepOverFest '08 when he got the ball tonight.

I do agree, but apart from Malbranque who was involved from an early stage when did the rest of the midfeild get involved?

Jenas seemed to do alot of running closing players down, Zokora not a clue and Lennon didn't come out of hiding untill the second half.

He certainly has cut out all the fancy stepovers and looked a decent player, I'd like to see him given a start, a full 90 minutes to see how he'd get on. He has natural ability, probably more natural ability than most players in our squad, it needs nurturing otherwise somebody else at another club will reap the rewards.

To be fair to Taarabt, very little of the play in the last 20 minutes was on the deck. It was just going from Robbo, to Berba, then eventually back again to re-start the attack.

I think we need to start Taarabt to really see what he can do. We've given Bent enough chances, why can't we give Taarabt one?

Agreed we maybe should give him a chance from the start in a game atleast before the season ends.. but given Bent enough chances??? are you serious?

If we ever expect to see Bent return to his form from his Charlton days, he needs to be given consistent matching!

I can't believe people are laying into him for not touching the ball for ten minutes. The ball was in and around our 18 yard box for those ten minutes, it was anything but his fault.

And, even more hilariously, people are laying into him for a 'mis-placed pass'?! How about laying into Lennon for having the slowest football brain this side of Titus Bramble, and not reading the extremely obvious run which Taarabt was asking him to make? Lennon refused to go down the outside all night. The ball from Taarabt was exactly the right thing to do at that moment, and it's Lennon who should being getting criticised for not reading what Taarabt was quite obviously begging him to do.

Not his fault, perhaps, that he didn't get the ball for ten minutes, so where should the blame for that be laid?

Criticism of his passing is ridiculous. After a lot of apparently justified stick for his performances with the ressies he does seem to have got the idea that the step-overs are a means to an end and once you've beaten your man you don't try and beat another for the hell of it, you pass the ball. This, he did pretty well.

Our best play came from the long balls. Their centre backs were too short to handle berba.

Unfortunately, yes. Which tells us what?

Pointless ball?

It was creative and attack-mided, but the rest of the team were so sluggish and disinterested it merely trickled out of play.

It was a good cameo from the man on the back of my shirt, and he should really be getting more games than Malbranque, but we'll have to see.

Someone who's yet to make his full debut for us should be getting more games than one of our best players of the season?

He made a great cameo. He needs to be used more in those games like brum and last night where our MF dont create anything and berba and keane are stranded. Taarabt is about the only player we've got at the moment who can come on and run at players and play the forwards in.

I look forward to seeing him against westham on sunday! Possibly a start for him as jenas is now injured

Pele's more talented younger brother/useless show-pony (delete as applicable) - there's not much middle ground for Adole Tarabarotoratiterra, is there?

I was pleased to see him get a run out, and his cross for O'Hara was good. Likewise a couple of runs (which were high-risk against such accomplished counter-attackers, but thankfully came off).

One good thing about being unable to be relegated or have to finish in the top 6 is that Adolf Treebeard should get several run-outs between now and the end of the campaign. He'll probably create 3/4 goals and cost us double that but he certainly needs games at Premier League level if he is ever to fulfill his reputation.

I really don't get this constant negativity toward Taraabt. Since when have Spurs fans cared about risking conceding goals to score them?

To dare is to do, no?

Christ. Time to put those rose-tinted glasses away when you're glancing mistily eyed back at Ginola then, methinks.

Thought the boy did well and it was great seeing someone actually not look petrified with the ball. By no means the finished article, but I can't see how he could have done any more.

Bloody heck Bill, had a pint or twelve?

he was a spark amongst a quite frankly dull, lifeless MF today

I saw him play in the reserves on Monday, and he fluctuated between greatness (a superb run and pass to set up the first goal) and acting like a kid when his teammates chose a different player to pass to.

Thought he looked good last night, he gets the crowd buzzing when he is on the ball, rather like Lennon when he broke into the first team. Still not sure what the best position is for him, possbily a floating attacking central midfielder. Can see him getting more games as the season goes on (and there is less and less to play for).

i didn't think lennon was very good tonight but i had the misfortune of watching the match with 3 girls who were gobbing off to each other all match. when taarabt came on i thought he did alright. keeps the ball longer than necessary and acts as though he has something to prove every time he gets the ball but i can just about deal with that for now. wouldn't mind seeing him get a few games under his belt, either starting or off the bench.

Agree with you mate, however when Ronaldo first came to the prem I remember Utd fans saying the same as him, they wanted him to keep it more simple and not think he had to prove something to everyone everytime he got the ball. I did think Taarabt looked more mature at times though, and was just trying to make things happen, which presumably was the reason he was thrown on for the last 15.

yeah it took Taarabt a long time to get the ball but; 1 - he wasn't passed too and 2 - we spent most of that time defending and noone really go on the ball much or for very long

he passed  and did okay but in the dying moments was trying ticks when a quick delivery was needed

And they were dead right and that's clearly what Fergie told him too.

It was Trabant's best cameo so far, but that's not saying much tbh.

I get very frustrated with what I see as over-hype of this lad. He's got talent and I hope he continues to mature into an exciting player, but the jury is still out for me.

I'd like to see him get a few starts in the PL now or go out on loan - either he's a real talent worth pushing on, or he's a show pony and won't get far. Playing in the stiffs will tell us bugger all imo.

You could be talking about Lennon there.
