Imagine if we did all our business before the start of pre season. How fucking amazing would that be.

always been an advocate of the opinion that the value of a full pre season for a player outweighs the financial saving when buying them late

We'd moan we haven't signed anyone for two months.

Because Johnson isn't a CF/ST. Those other points all go against CDK too, but the key difference is that he very much plays in the same mold, position wise, as Kane currently does, and so is a more natural fit in the squad as a Kane cover/rotation player.

If Johnson was a CF/ST then I'd agree we should be looking at him. We should anyway be looking at him for the attacking midfield role we need in the team, for me it's Terrier or Johnson from that list. On top of that we need a CF/ST player.
Johnson was on my list as back up to Deki and Son more, but mentioned he can play as a striker if we move to 3-5-2, as he is more than capable in a front 2. Terrier is the player on my list that least I am convinced by and agree, if there was a quality Striker that can player LW that was available, I would favor that player, I just think in the circumstances, he is worth the punt, considering he scored 21 goals this season and given his skill set (great close control, dribbling in tight spaces and an incredible long shot). Also worth noting that 50% of his game time last season and 40% this season was playing as a striker.

I think what we disagree on the most, is that I don't think CDK will be any more suited to playing as a loan striker in the PL than Terrier and I definitely think he is more suited to playing Son's role and in a front 2 than CDK.

We generally don't aim to spend after a window but rather sell to spend. We will no doubt still try to do that but now have £150m on top of sales

Don’t think that’s true. In the last 3 years we’ve had a net spend on average of around £70m each year.

So my point still stands - Will we get that same £70m to spend this summer on top of the £150m investment?

Let’s be honest, we don’t need to spend more than £150m plus sales, which by my calculations will add another £100m minimum. Could be £150m depending on how many we sell.

£250m+ is a whopping amount to have on hand. We can target pretty much any player out there who isn’t already at one of the elite 6-8 clubs above us in the pecking order.

The difficulty is going to be getting truly elite players like Bastoni over the line without someone like Man City trumping us just because they can.
