I was originally just going to make a thread about this story in particular, but there's no thread for general trasnfers this Summer, which was quite useful last year, so here it is.

BREAKING: Sky Sources: Manchester United close to agreeing deal to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan in the summer #SSNHQ

The same reports are also in Germany. Should be a very good signing for United.

Good signing for them if it happens. Herrera, Blind and Gundogan are a good little trio there.

Don't envy Tuchel, I reckon he's going to see a little bit of an exodus. Doubt they'll be keeping hold of Reus this summer, perhaps Hummels too.

There taking a big risk in my opinion, from what I have seen of him since he came back from injury he can't seem to run or get round the pitch like he used to.. I think he might really struggle with the pace of the PL

United are going to have an incredible summer. Gundogan, Clyne, Hummels, and Depay all look like sure things for them to sign. Then they've got to have their one marquee signing, which I think will be either Pogba or Bale. Add a striker in there (Cavani/Martinez/Benteke) and they're probably 3-way favorites for the title with Chelsea and City. If Arsenal go out and buy Schneiderlin/Carvalho plus another Alexis/Ozil type signing (Lacazette for instance), then the top 4 in this league will be so far ahead of everyone else, the race for 4th will be over by February.

Does that mean Carrick will be available?

If you are right there will be lots of unhappy players at Man Utd after that lot arrive.

Im going to disagree, I don't think Gundogan is needed and one they should go for.

He is a big risk. He has been injured for long time and they need schniederlin more than Gundogan imo

I actually don't understand why he would go there. They already have too many forward thinking players, how is he going to fit into a team that plays 5-3-2 and one that already has Di Maria, Mata, Van Persie, Rooney, Januzaj, Young, Fellaini, Herrera,.........

Most United supporters will tell you it is because they are going to have a clear out on some of the players already there....Di Maria will be one of them (PSG is apparently one of the teams that want him) but talk of RVP being moved and Januzaj going on a season long loan.

Midfield trio of Herrea, Blind and Gundogan would be very good for them. Putting Depay into a rotation on the wings (with cameos at ST as well i am sure) will be a nice fit for them. Tack in that it looks like they are going to make a big play for Clyne to play RB (instead of Valencia) and at least 1 legit CB and they will be on track to get back where they want to be.....annoyingly so.

Ya on paper it is an all right trio, nothing to right home about really...depay is not all that either, really..nacer is better

I see what you're saying, however, that isn't the formation that Van Gaal likes to play, he is incredibly stubborn and will play his formation no matter the players. For me that means 2 of Rooney, Depay, Mata, Van Persie, Fellaini will be missing out each & every game. (This is assuming Di Maria does leave).

I just think that what is more important for someone like Depay is to be playing week in, week out and I just dont see it happening at Utd. Also I've got a couple of mates who are big Utd fans and they really do not rate Blind in CM at all. I then watched him play there & he does look like a player playing out of position. Far better at LB.

Blind in the middle not good when I have seen him. But at LB he and Fellaini kicked our ass recently.

Have they been poor this season then? @Lufti

I am not Lufti but as far as I know Boateng most of the time was lazy as fuck and often choose not to give 100%. Sam was injured most of the time to be fair but I think there is more of an attitude problem with lots of players and these two have to be the worst.

You can compare it to our situation with Capoue, Ade and Kabs.

Apparently Sam only played 87 minutes all season, so makes perfect sense that he's been released.
Surprised about Boateng, but we know from experience that attitude is a big issue with him.
Wish Levy had the bollocks to do similar with disruptive players, but he just wants to ensure we get cash.
