Subs Reaction When We Score

After watching the Reading game and after every goal the camera went on to AVB for his reaction but if you look behind him at our subs reaction jesus christ you would think someone was pulling their teeth.

Having watched La Liga for years and most of all Barca it is a joy to see how together their whole squad is when they all come off the bench to celebrate every goal.

What do you all think?

Adebayor's face in particular was a picture when Defoe scored his second goal, I think that was the one anyway! I had to laugh, couldn't help it.

I'm always miserable when I'm on the bench - irrespective of the score. I don't want any happy subs (except Cudicini, who has made a career of it).

Ade can't really have anyone else to blame but himself really? He dragged it out till the last knockings and so he couldn't prepare as he should have done. He will have to earn his place just as the others will

In a league that you would "expect to win" I think the individual on the bench only thinks about will they play...

Cup games, tight close affairs that become dramatic and the subs too get caught up in it more. Adebayour was probably expecting to come on as a sub and was clearly annoyed when he didn't.

Let's hopefully see a positive reaction to that on Thursday rather than a sulky one. I think what will help there is AVB wants to win the competition and will send out a strong team, so those "fringe" players who do play won't feel like they have been relegated to the academy team like last year.

You would be pissed though. If Defoe bangs in a goal or two every game then there's zero chance the manager is going to swap him out for you.

I think he was pissed that he knows that if Defoe is scoring he won't get dropped. That's fair enough.

Also Defoe was then on for a hattrick, so not a chance Adebayor was getting on then. Really hope he starts tonight, think he could be quite rusty though.

I started reading some of those 'Secret footballer' articles recently and if what Kitson (;)) says is anything to go by then players hate being on the bench especially strikers and think things like "I want us to win 1-0 with the centre half scoring from a corner" so yes I'd imagine Ade in particular isn't that happy but tbf he was one of the only ones clapping when Defore scored his second.

Saw someone on twitter claiming Freund had said Adebayor was ill and bed bound all last week. Could explain why he wasn't looking his happiest if true

Is it really Kitson?

Really don't want our subs to look happy sitting on the bench (unless of course it's a youngster who has just made the step up) no professional should ever be happy at being on the bench.

This is one of the big problems I have with Cuddicini, who had the ability to be a really top class keeper yet at both Chelsea and Spurs seems to be content with just sitting on the bench. I want all our players to show hunger and determination to get into the starting 11 for every game.

Adebayor will come good when fully fit for now tho it's all about Defoe.

But, at the same time, a top level squad benefits form having top level players on the bench, but doesn't benefit from malcontents.

Players who are left out should be showing the intensity of their disappointment on the training pitch and when they are given a chance - the rest of the time, i.e. on the bench, during matches, they should identify as part of a squad striving for success, it is a squad game, after all.
