There’s absolutely no way those players are clear on what the manager has asked them to do. They’re constantly losing defensive shape, they’re forcing long balls because they don’t know where their teammates are supposed to be, and they’re pressing individually rather than as a unit.

We don’t understand the approach tonight because the players don’t either. And that’s a failing of the manager.
