We always looks pretty shit when we played 3 at the back last year but it's working well today. No doubt this is largely down to the quality of the opposition, but would be good to have some other systems in our locker that bring out the best of players like Gedson and Sess.
The other thing is this is more like a Conte 3 at the back rather than the Bielsa styled one Poch liked. No patient building from the back, we play forward quickly and don't leave us exposed. So its the same formation but very different system.

Dele looking very determined, if he can stay healthy he's gonna have a big bounce back season.

Dele not being an automatic starter could be just what he needed. Admittedly a friendly but he looks extremely fired up, good signs.

Agreed, although I seem to recall Jose tried a back 3 a couple of times too, and it looked pretty shite. Can't remember which games, though.

Gedson doesn't look half bad in this Aurier style RW/RB role. He hasn't been tested defensively at all and against super weak opposition, but I wonder if this is who he might use out there for cup games

Also, if we are thinking of going with three at the back, it explains why we are looking for another centre back, and looking at wing backs for right backs.

Has looked a bit suspect a couple of times already.
Yea I just don’t think he’s a CB or at least he’s still a few years away from the level he needs to be which is fair enough as he’s still very young but he just gives the ball away far far too often and makes too many mistakes and I’m not sure Jose will be willing to wait around for him to get up to speed

Hojbjerg has the playing style as Vertonghen, he's very upright and his tackling is scarily similar to him.
