Liverpool let in three goals against Malaysia today. Chiefs are much better than Malaysia.

We rotated everyone on the pitch apart from a keeper who has no wrists and a midfielder with no talent. The oppo were playing a cup final.

If you get upset about this, what's left in the tank when we lose 1-0 to a set piece in the last minute against Swansea at the Liberty despite having had 48 shots on target?

i am not even bothered about the game or perfromance from the team. im looking at the bigger picture in how or our team is shaping up for a huge part of our season.

when we qualified for the champs league a large part of that was due to the start we had. Yes the back to back wins versus arsenal and chelsea were huge but its easier to play when you are protecting a lead rather than playing catch up. looking at the fixture list if there was one team in the prem that needed to be ready to start fast that was spurs.

yes the games will even out, but with all the negativity about the modric saga it would be a huge statement if we started the league strong.

the way you do that is to get the players you want early and get a team chemistry.

Ok its a friendly, but it was pretty shocking TBH, Bentley spurger king ??how on earth did you think he was pretty decent??? he wasn't trust me!!

Carlo was so poor too, ok it is early days and boy did we look rusty.

2nd half was better with Bale always a threat, but it was such a poor dispaly that i have lost the will to type anymore on this game!

I'm not one of Bentley's biggest fans, but neither am I blindly dismissive of him. His was one of the better performances in the first half, and it amuses me that you find that so contentious.

I'm not defending him i'm criticizing you. He had some excellent games last season though against stoke, inter, villa, Bremen, bolton.

You've decided already he's shit and you hate him so no matter what he does you'll only highlight his mistakes and pass over his good games and good contributions...the worst type of fan to my mind...we want our favourites to be loyal (Mod) but the ones we hate should just fuck off and do one loyal or not...the double standards are just unbelievable...deadwood indeed..

My point is ( and this is the last I will say about it as it really is a waste of time) that he has so many bad games that when he has a good one it's like the second coming. When he plays he usually does the absolute minimum required of a central midfielder. Sometimes he has a good game and sometimes he is shocking. His complete averageness is not something to be complimented. many see him as having lots of energy, being a good athlete, putting in a good shift. I dont disagree, he is very fit and has a good engine, but running around the midfield without actually ever getting close to the player in possesion whilst not doing enough to stop the ball being moved on by closing down the space is not good enough for a team looking to challenge for the top 3. People will point out his good passing stats. I will point out the number of times he looks for a short sideways pass after putting his foot on the ball and thus bringing to a halt a promising, fast paced attack.
Today, against inferior opposition he could have been making surging runs past our statue like front two but chose to stand still himself in the centre of the park.
The fact that he is happy to be 4th or 5th choice in our midfield is the final nail in the coffin for me. He will never challenge for a 1st team slot here again and the fact he is happy to pick up his hefty wage for doing the best part of fuck all is reason enough for my view of him to not be as rosy as yours.

It's not really that important because I fully expect him to be sold anyway, but yes I thought he was pretty decent in the first half. Showed far more energy, enthusiasm and willingness to try to create something than anyone else in that first 45 minutes.

quite agree, i remember the pre-season when we won all the games, hammered norwich 4-1 or 5-1 something like that, everyone went crazy saying we would be amazing and then we did terrible sacked ramos and brought redknapp in . pre-season means nothing but the fitness of the players do .
