Just dropped my son off at the Spurs Surrey Soccer School. Looks really good. Left him there with quite a few other mini spurs lads.
Has anyone had their children do one of these before?
He is only able to do 1 day but they get a full days coaching, lunch and a kit. Hopefully a lot of fun as well. Nice day for it.

ive just signed my son up for the evening goalkeeper coaching course as I know they have some great community coaches.

None here in Essex so my boy went to the Chelsea one and got invited to train with academy.

He now gets offers for free tickets for games now and then.

Business model - keep an eye on best boys and have bonus of trying to 'convert' them to chelskiism

I took my kid to a training session Spurs did one evening round ours and it was terrible about £16 for an hour and a half. There were three coaches for a couple of hundred kids. They just stood in the middle and shouted instructions didn't bother trying to correct anyone. In a game I saw one kid do an absolutely terrible tackle that just so happened to be in front of one of the coaches and he didn't say anything. This was a couple of years ago so hopefully they have improved.

I hate to say it but Chelsea had a partnership deal with his club and on occasions they would do training sessions where it was 1 coach per 4 - 5 kids and was absolutely brilliant. They also asked several kids to come to the Chelsea training ground for trials.

Yes, my son did a day last year. I thought it was excellent. Great coaches, well organised and really special to be part of the official club set-up. Fully recommend it.

At the end, the marketing guy asked to interview me and say what I liked which I was happy to do and then embarrassingly my mug was shown at every home match day on the big screens outside the stadium last season. S'OK really - I love Spurs and secretly now am proud to be a movie star.

I'll be interested to see what he thought of it when he gets home, all the lads looked shy and nervous this morning not knowing each other. The coaches and team that welcomed us seemed friendly and decent enough. I'm hoping he will be disappointed only to be able to do 1 day.

Dont think I could send him to a chelsea one lol. Seems odd that they wouldn't run any spurs ones in Essex though but do in Surrey.

I don't know about over there across the pond but my son attends one of the two Tottenham academies here in the U.S. It opened a few years ago and the coaching is far superior to any of the other youth programs I've been around. Utilizing local college coaches, former college players and some former lower league players from the U.K. It is open to everyone around age 4 but they start to divide them by skill level starting around age 6-7. Currently most of the "elite prospects" around here head to MLS academies in hopes of getting signed but I've heard some good things about a few of the older kids, though none are projected to reach Spurs level. It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be worthwhile for the club.

Do they get to shake Jennings' enormous hands? Would be an inspiration to them.

It was held at Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey.

Sounds like he's had a great day and the coaches worked them hard (which he didn't expect) so he is shattered. I'll find out more when I get home in a cpl of days.

Lots of goodies to bring home and chuffed with the kit which I'd not told him he was getting- I'm sneaky like that.

They had the odd soccer school which sell out fast.

Chelsea do these and also an academy after school during term times in Essex. My boy is on the weekly one (invite only) which are not done local by spurs.

I'm not talking about soccer school but academy
