Ridiculous that Newcastle had more televised games than us. Also would be interesting to know how that £89m vets distributed and split up once received by the club.

#thfc made slightly more PL prize money last season (£89.7m) but these are big increases from 2012/13, when they banked 'only' £55.9m.

Nothing to do with Lvpool Luvvies keeping Lvpool on TV.. Broadcasters will put on what draws the biggest viewing audience, Lvpool have a bigger fanbase than us so will draw higher tv ratings.. that's why there on more than us.

They should make it a bit more fair though. No team shown more than 20 and none less than 15 times a season seems fair.

What are the facility fees? I assume that it's the cost of hosting the broadcaster, in which case we would have made more than Liverpool. The TV revenue is the same and we received a higher merit payment.

It's how much we recieve for having live games on tv (i think).

I always thought that all teams were meant to be televised roughly the same number of times?
Seems from that table it's not the case?

There's a base amount teams have to have, which I guess is the 10. The TV companies though can then pick other games they want with little care for how many times it appears.

What makes it 'fair' is that the bulk of the TV money is split irrespective of the amount of games. Compared to Spain for example where the clubs do the deals separately.

Works as follows:

  • 50% of UK broadcast revenue split equally between the 20 clubs
  • 25% of UK broadcast revenue paid in Merit Payments ("Prize Money" per place in the table)
  • 25% of UK broadcast revenue paid in Facility Fees each time a club's matches are broadcast in the UK.
  • All international broadcast revenue, and central commercial revenue, is split equally among the 20 clubs.

Could be a lot worse guys. In 2014 the gap between the top five earners and bottom five earners was roughly £10m, mean while in Spain.....

Top 5

Real Madrid £118.6M
Barcelona £118.6m
Valencia £37.6
Atletico Madrid £32.9m
Sevilla £25m

Bottom 5

Granada £14.1m
Elche £14.1m
Valladolid £14.1m
Rayo £14.1m
Almeria £14.1m

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

This will change with the new tv share agreement (although it will take a long time as certain clubs made the proviso that no club would be worse off than before).
