Just saw the Sun headline re 40 mill for Dier , yes probably BS ,but the amount wouldn't be far off . He cost just a few mill . Levy must be well pleased with his asset values , Started me idly speculating... using very rough player values..the central point being there's been a lot of upward mobility .

Kane cost no more than wages , now value 70 mill
Eriksen , 10 mill must be now 40 mill
Dele , cost a few mill now up to what, 60 mill ?
Lloris 11 mill was it now what, 30 mill ?
Toby 10 mill now 50 mill
Verts I forget..10 mill was it now 50 mill
Walker coupla mill now 50 mill
Rose not much if anything now 50 plus mill
Dier 10 mill now 40 mill

We do tend to fuss about the losses of value here and there (Sissoko Janssen etc) but they are not close to the increases achieved . Well done to the club from Levy through the management and staff to the players .Very impressive .

Whilst I agree it shows that amongst the poor buys we have also done some very good business, player values are meaningless unless we intend to sell our best players for profit, as they will not be valued at that level on the balance sheet. And I hope that is not something that Levy has even in the back of his mind.

Think you undervalued by quite a bit given the prices of average premiere league payers in today's market

A lot of those values are more representative of their values to the club imo, rather than what anyone else would pay for them (therefore not market value).

Vertonghen is nearly 30 so we wouldn't get 50 mil for him and while Dele is a huge talent I highly doubt anyone would bid £60m for him right now. On the flip side, Kane is probably valued much higher than £70m by the club.

This is good news though, as its another reason why I'm not worried about losing any of our top players (the ones listed by OP) this summer - I don't think anyone is likely to meet our valuation of them. Enquiries, and perhaps even firm offers, will be made for Rose and Kane in the summer (probably by both Manc teams) but I think City, even with their resources, will bulk at our valuation of Rose (if we even quote one) and I'm simply not expecting any enquiries for Kane to be entertained for one second.

Whereas when we lost Carrick, Berbatov and Keane we probably started off £5m apart from the buying club in terms of valuation, now I think the starting points will be £15m-£25m apart. That kind of difference causes clubs to look elsewhere.
