this is wicked, almost exactly what we needed, think we might be in for a decent summers worth of transfers

hopefully now the club are signing the right players and that everyone needed for these deals are on the same page

With three English teams in the semi-finals of this season's UEFA Champions League, Modric believes the quality of football in England speaks for itself.

"I'm happy to be joining such a big club," Modric said at a press conference in Zagreb.

It will be a real pleasure to play in the English league which is the best in Europe, with three English clubs in the semi-finals of the Champions League."

Despite losing one of their brightest players, Dinamo sporting director Zoran Mamic was happy with the deal brokered with Spurs.

"Tottenham's president came to Zagreb," said Mamic. "We signed the agreement and everything is in order.

"We're very happy. Luka is leaving for an environment where he's going to progress, while Dinamo showed that we know how to do good deals."

-----------------------------------

So, who is this mysterious Tottenham President who made the trip to Zagreb?

Ramos, Commoli or Levy?

I don't care about contract law yanno :) I'm telling you Capel ain't coming release clause or no release clause - if you think football chairman like the one at Seville can't find a way around it that's up to you, I'm saying he will (if necessary) and Capel ain't coming

you can have the last word on it but i won't change my mind - and come August when he ain't playing for us I'll be telling all the people who said he would be - I told ya so :)
DC, I think what Yanno is saying is that if there is a release clause in his contract and it was implemented and he opted for us, Sevilla could not stop it, whether or not he would want to come to us is another story.

So come August there is just a 25% chance he would run out for us as:

(a) He did not have a get out clause or
(b) He had one but we were not interested or
(c) He had one but he was not interested or
(d) He had one and was interested.

So for whatever reason, it is unlikely that he will be playing for us anyway.

Great news!!! And to think, my Toon supporting mate was convinced they were going to sign him. We were just talking about it yesterday, he was asking me did I think Modric is a good player. I said that it was be a massive signing if they got him, little knowing we were a few hours away from getting him.

Happy days......

Now, if we could just convince Berbatov to stay. This and one or two other big signings will help.

This thread will be massive when everyone sees the news in the morning

Apparently he was going to sign for them but changed his mind when KK got a bit too "friendly". Allegedly.

Not quite dead, but I had an accident after the Sunderland game and the wound got infected, so I was partially paralysed for a while, then it went away, then it came back and then went again. But, during this time I didn't have access to the internet which helped me beat my SC addiction (I was spending far too much time here). Also I've now moved to the US and live in Seattle so by the time I've finished work it's pretty late in the UK and not worth posting anyway.

Good to see you back Joey,I have always enjoyed your posts!

Could hardly believe that he actually signed for us. He is exactly the creative midfielder we have missed since like forever.

Watching the the Bolton game on telly now and just saw Modric watching it :)

Another potentially lovely way to look at this (as if there were not enough) is that - and yes, this is unhatched chicken counting on a grand scale but bear with me - we may very well have made a bigger summer signing than Arsenal...and it's not even pre-season yet.

I promised myself I wouldn't post here during the season, but this is just awesome news. He's exactly the kind of player we need. I suspect it could mean Berbs is off, but I feel we were too reliant on him anyway. I really want us to play a 4231 next season with three really technical players in behind Bent. Modric, Arshavin and Larsson are the 3 I want, so this is a great start. I'm never going to rate Zokora in a 442 and I'm running out of patience with JJ, but if the both sat in front of the back 4 and do the donkey work for more technical players in front of them, I think we'd be very solid, but also much more creative. Modric signing is the best news in years. When players like Arshavin see we have signed Modric, then they are more likley to join.

Aaaarrgggghhhh! It's a ghost.Eek

I'm not gonna lie to you but I thought you were dead until a few days ago:shrug:

I think we should call him 'Filthy Luka'

If our other midfielders are anything to go by, he'll normally be called Lookie Modrenc or Lucas Moredick or something.

Fantastic stuff!

Before I even knew about the coup this morning I had a text from a gooner mate saying we had signed Modric, and that he hated me.

Hilarious

He'll be impressed that we managed to hold off the mighty Bolton to claim a point.
