On way back from today's game and whilst we did not play well Wigan were determined to make it difficult for us however when people say we havevthe most fickle fans I actually think they are right! The guy on front if me did not stop moaning from start to finish and even ended up calling for Redknapp to "f**k off and manage England" needless to say we had words but I have to ask if some fans just moan and are as short sighted as that why do they bother going every week!!

Just look at the response of some of the people on here full of anger and criticsm when every team in the league has a blip, including Man Ure.
We'll never win every game but judging by some of the comments on here the over expectation is outrageous............sometimes you've just got to take it on the chin, admit we didn't play well and remedy the problems before the next match.
Having said that I wonder what would have happened had 'Arry played a team today of those that didn't play in mid-week, maybe they would have been more up for it.

I really hate some of our "fans". You get people on here that never post when anything good happens but suddenly crawl out of the woodwork as soon as we have a bad day. Why do they even follow a team? I don't understand what they get out of it?

You should support the team through thick and thin, no excuses.

Completely we make champions league proper and all of a sudden we will every match iirc Chelsea lost to Wigan last year yet still won the league. We lost at home 2 wolves last season yet still got fourth. Yes we played poorly and really should have done better but some reactions are ridiculous.

Agree. Im trying to argue spurs' point in various threads to no avail it seems.

Yes we were not great. But games like these are part and parcel of football, it happens to the best of them. We have a particularly sticky point in these matches though it seems.

Under ramos hull 1-0, wigan 0-0.

Under redknapp hull 0-0, stoke 1-0, wolves 1-0, wigan 1-0.

It happens. Lesson learnt? No clearly not.

We need to go on the training pitch and learn how to play against a team that puts 10 behind the ball. Simple as that, move onto the next game.

I dont expect us to win against Man UTD. I do expect us to win against a team which prior to the game had 0 scored and 10 received goals; gotten trashed by Blackpool(!); we beat 9:1 last year.

Credit where it's due, but also criticism where it's due.

We need to pick up ALL the points against the weak teams, otherwise we won't get 4th again. City are much stronger than last season, Arsenal are not much weaker. It's going to be a battle for the 4th spot for us, not for the 3rd or 4th.

Do these people not realise that other teams are going to fuck up as well? We lost today but we have to lose as a team and not start blaming individuals, that will only weaken us. I have to say I was shocked at the lack of noise at the game today, I'm not in a position to attend games all the time but it was so quiet. The team will play better if we can replicate the atmosphere from the Young Boys second leg in every home game.

Our fans sounded frustrated about 10 mins into the game today

If only fans realised that when they get frustrated it affects the players. Our fans played their role in the loss aswell today.

Come on guys!!!

It must be legal to be hugely dissapointed after a game like this... I've said some bad words to both Arry and Hudd today....When i wake up tomorrow I still love them....

A reaction must be allowed ffs!

No doubt you're right but can't the reaction be saved untill the final whistle? Why can't we all support the team when things are going bad? That's when support is most needed!

It's ok to be upset about the result, but why were our fans frustrated throughout the game even at 0-0? Get behind the team and build their confidence. If the fans are frustrated then it rubs off on the players. We lacked home advantage because of the fans today. We could've won 1-0 if they'd supported the players while it was 0-0.

Who ever would have guessed that football is a sport that evokes passion and as a result some fans gets really fired up and upset when we lose?

Some fans get tense and react unreasonably when things aren't going well. This doesn't make them fickle or not real fans. Different people rect to different situations differently. It's a basic part of human psychology, get over it and don't use it to make yourself look better than someone else. Simple.

I'm afraid I don't buy that argument. It's not hard to understand that the players react better to being cheered on than they do to a library like silence.

I was really pissed off when I heard booing coming through my speakers when the ref blew for half time. The fans' frustration was far too obvious, of course if affected the players.

From the first to last whistle the fans should be shouting encouraging words and chanting and getting behind the team. After the last whistle, if we've been shit, then a reaction in the shape of booing might be acceptable. But ONLY after the last whistle.

Yes they do but if the fans were feeling tense and edgy then they're going to come across as tense and edgy. They paid money, spent time and have sat through a poor 90 minutes. They are not perfect human beings and they certainly aren't robots who respond exactly how fans should.

They were very frustrated today and it showed, it doesn't make them fickle or worse fans/people than you or I.

I simply made a statement and posed a question there was never any question of making me look beter than someone else. I was blocked from this site for slagging bentley off after the carling cup final so have no problem with getting tense and over reacting provided it's balanced and at the right time. If you don't agree that's fine but to right such a pompous reply was hardly warranted.

Watch yourself when you get off that horse it's a high one.

The way I see it, they paid their money for the privilege of supporting the team. They failed today, and we suffered for it.
