Didn't realise that Kelly Hoppen off Dragons Den is his ex girlfriend.

Edit: and he's married to the heiress of Barratt Homes.
"Darling, I need Barratt homes to get hold of more land for property development in London, maybe those poor boroughs that we can tart up a bit... do me a favour honey and become mayor will you?!"

He has no redeeming features, and he just gets worse and worse, plumbing the depths with his idiotic outbursts and grandstandings. It makes me angry every time I hear his pathetic whiny voice on TV.

Terrific defender back in the day, but it's embarrassing that he was our captain for a number of years.

If he wins, I wonder how long it would be before he runs out on his new team-mates? Think I'll open a book on it. Smart money would be half way through his term :woot::woot::woot:

S*l C*mpb*ll - putting the loon into loon**** since the year zero!

The fact his Twitter profile states "former Arsenal and England defender", with no reference to the club that made him, highlights what a **** he really is.

The fact that Sol Campbell has decided to have a go at politics, looked at the party that was most in line with his beliefs and the one he felt represented his concerns above all others, as a multi-millionaire should tell you all you need to know about the Tories. It's baffling that any ordinary person would vote for them.

But, go team Campbell, eh?

Diversity is a great thing.
But no one, not Sol or anyone deserves to be voted into to any form of government based on their colour. If his main argument for running is to get the "black vote", then that is damning indictment of our education and political system (which I suppose we know is ballsed).

If anyone outwardly said they would vote Boris over Sol because Boris is white, they would be taken to the racial cleaners and rightly so, but vice versa?? Hypocrisy...

Nothing against anyone of any colour, standing for parliament or office, but I want to see policies, proof that the person I am voting for is not a complete dimwit, not to score points in a racial contest.

Its about the right person for the job... What IS important is making sure that those of a racial minority are given the same chances though.
Spot on. The hypocrisy on a lot of these ism-issues is currently rife. In my part of town there is a 'woman only' gym. Its the only gym in my part of town but I can't go based on my gender. Were there a gym in town that said 'men only' in the window there would be outrage. Really winds me up.

Remember when the Tories put Jeffry Archer forward for Mayor of London? I bet, like me, you didn't think they could find a bigger **** for the role, but somehow, here we are.

A woman only gym isn't an indication that you are being marginalised or exluded because of your gender, it's an indication that woman are being harrassed and made to feel uncomfortable because of theirs. Really, think about why a gym like that appeals to woman. Think about how woman are often treated in gyms. It's not sexism against males that led to that gym in your town, it's the exact, literal opposite.

I agree with what your saying, and I've no doubt that is the reason for women only gyms. However it is still discriminatory. It is also running from the issue you raise instead of tackling it.
Similarly if there was a gym for black people that excluded white people I would call it racist even if the reason for the gym would be for the users to be sheltered from racism (How about Yid Gyms to keep out the Chelsea fans).
What ever way you call it it's a sad indictment of society.

I think in the case of gyms there really isn't any large-scale harassment of black people or Tottenham fans. The same can't be said for women unfortunately. You have to realise that as annoying as this kind of thing is to men, and I can see that, there will be far, far more women who feel like they are equally unable to go to their local gym because of sexism. Until we have an equal society there's no reason women should exclusively bear the burden of sexism - I know it's harsh, but maybe if more men saw the impact of it and how frustrating it is to feel excluded because of gender they'd be more willing to help fight against it.

It's a very subtle argument and to make comparisons like you have done ignores these subtlties and can lead to a sullying of the argument around it (not accusing you of that by the way (y)).

Yes, we should tackle discrimmination, but we have to protect the most vunerable first of all. We don't call the fact women and men don't compete head to head in tennis together discrimminatory, because we know it's beneficial for them not to - we don't call discrimmination on it because we accept those differences. A woman's only gym accepts as a premise that woman are vunerable in a gym in a manner in which men generally are not. It accepts this premise and the fact that it's still open and people use it, should indicate that the problem isn't with the gym being discrimminatory, but that the men who are responsible for it's existence in the first place by creating an atmosphere in other gyms where a woman's only gym was not only socially exceptable enough to work, but also, I would imagine thrive as a business; it is they who discrimminated in a harmful way.

A woman's only gym is a defensive measure against sexism, a gym for anyone of a certain colour is racially discrimminatory. That can't be painted any other way.
