Can't say I know much about him, so I'm not going to judge him as a signing. He could actually turn out to be a key player under Conte. He might not. Let's wait and see before writing someone off (I know it's difficult for many in our fanbase these days though).

Why is the assumption that Conte is directing the incoming targets? I would have thought he would leave that to Paratici. Conte doesn't have time to be scouting. What he certainly has done is told the club who needs to be got rid.

I get that Ndomeble, Lo Celso and Dele are done here, but surely we can find better options than Amrabat on loan. If Villa can get the likes of Coutinho...
There were a number of media reports that Conte turned down Coutinho, as well as similar reports he was behind the suggestion of Amrabat (who he was reported to be interested in at Milan). Grain of salt and all but surely Conte would have opinions on players he is familiar with.

Surely, right, if Kessie is now a no go. The next viable option is not this guy, we’d be looking at Zakaria? Contract ending etc. it just seems crazy, this link.

Has anyone actually seen much of this guy?
Only I'd like to hear the opinion of someone who's watched him a few times, rather than read all these posts proclaiming he's shit when they've probably never watched him (or heard of him before today).

If it helps I watched him in the AFCON game this evening and he was horrendous against the mighty Malawi.

Well, he’s not going to be good if he can’t get in the fiorentina team and when he was at Bruges struggled to get in that too. It’s just an average signing by a club who now buys average players because they don’t scout properly and rely on agents to bring players in rather than actually using the tried and tested method of researching players, scouting them for a period of time and finding out about their lives and whether they’d be a good fit for the club. We seemingly do none of that but go for the other option. Accept players who might be able to do a job because an agent has pushed them our way and it’s easier. No not easier actually, just lazy.

That may be the case but if its just a 6 month loan, to fill a gap, I don't really see what harm it will do.

Yeah, he may not be the big name we all want but January is tricky, so maybe he's seen as a stop-gap?

Eriksen available and we find this nugget hiding away in Florence. If it’s only a stop gap with the other 3 first choice then wtf is going on.

I didn’t mention big names, I said properly scouted players we might have tracked for a while. Surely bringing someone in like that who we might think useful for Conte (or the next man) would be the way to go. Unless we have done that and we cant get him but with our M.O. I really doubt it. Hopefully if this guy comes in he surprises us and does well.

I didn't mean to imply that you'd suggested big names, more that it's what we all desire.
I agree that our scouting of late has left a lot to be desired but hopefully, with Paratici and the reported scouting rebuild, that's now being addressed.

Haha. Look, I’ll praise the club when they sign quality players and show ambition. If our CM is weak and we are signing players like Amrabat I’ll criticise. Not everything has to be happy clapped.

I’m excited by the Dias links but I’m unhappy with Amrabat. There is nothing redeeming about the move apart from just filling numbers. Is that really the best we can do for a top 4 push?
As I said if it’s part of a wider overall strategy and if conte is happy for us to sign him and go for Kessie or other main targets in summer then fine by me. Not happy clapping just trying to see the whole picture.

Loads of gimps think Kane is rubbish because he didn't look great in the WC/Euros.

Loads of massive stars regularly look like colossal dog turd in AFCON and international tournaments in general.

This guy may well be shit, but if we're gonna make snap judgements, surely him being voted the 3rd best player in Serie A in 19/20 and being admired by Antonio Conte is worth more than 15 mins of an AFCON match.

He’s a true DM that Conte likes I can’t see the issue here, especially since it’s a loan. Not all great teams had super stars in every position, give him a chance, he might be the glue that brings out the best in other players we have who knows.
