Avb was way too stubborn. Clearly he didn't get the FBs he wanted but just tweaking the system in the wide areas would have done it IMO. Keep everything else but play the wingers on their natural sides to generate width. Looked like he might have finally bitten the bullet in his last couple of games but by that stage frustration at the previous 4 months and another home dicking proved too much for Baldrick.

I admit to realising he wasn't quite the coach I thought either when he still, after 18 months, had only got us pressing the way we needed to in order to make the system function properly about half a dozen times in total.

Sherwood is a dead man walking though and I think even he realises by now the mistake he's made. Should have stayed in the background, Tim. You haven't lost a league game yet and already are getting it. When you're not universally accepted by us, there's no chance. It only ends one way for our managers/coaches.

Without asking I couldn't answer that question. We definitely look at team shape and how we move the ball from back to front. We also show players mistake made during the game and what passage of play would have been better etc. I'm not sure if individual actions are analysed.

Chiriches will be getting alot of TV time.

I'm sure I read somewhere 'Tim Nice But....' was getting paid £10K per week for his previous role....unbelievable Jeff !!

Daniel should have waited a bit longer, we could have done a lot worse than a young British manager. Missed out on Rodgers and Martinez but Mackay could have been a decent shout.

I still absolutely lurve every single bit of business we did this summer, except not getting in a LB and selling Caulker and even then, we had a rip-snorter of a transfer window.
we might have to go back for him because we need a CB if kaboul will never make a recovery

Yes, and that he has been overlooked for Bentaleb in the subs. I dont get that one either.

That said, I think he underestimated the intent of West Brom and assumed a two banks of 4 playing for a draw outfit, with us pressing high up the pitch and dominating possession.

What we got was a West Brom side out to have a go at us and a number of our players having pretty shocking personal performances. Lesson of the day is not to assume the other team will play how you want them to.

A mistake we got away with. And that we should all hope we dont see made again.
Apparently Capoue and Holtby were disciplined for turning up late earlier in the week

Oh deary deary me. In some sense these sums it up quite well so far, with a formation setup from the eighties and no clear strategy.

Early days I suppose, but no evidence thus far that Sherwood is the new Guardiolian wine

Brilliant, I've stuck your gif here as it's worth seeing and alot won't click on the link. Hope that's ok, otherwise I'll remove it. (y)

In this years CL nine out of 16 managers / head coaches on knockout stage started at the top flight
I'd be more than happy to show my ignorance and ask you to name them (before I research their managerial history)

The fact that our emergency options are Hoddle or Pleat, shows exactly how limited we were once AVB went.

I don't think either of them would have been any less risky. Especially as they'd have to get to know the entire squad. Sherwood and the rest of the staff have the advantage of already knowing most of them. Plus the break through youth players. Less upheaval for what is certainly a short term appointment.

It's only a few more months anyway. Then we get a new manager in, and things can start again. For better or worse.
I was genuinely questioning anyone who thought tha

I seriously didn't want Hoddle (not even til the end of the season) but I'd take him now!

Yes

Guardiola and Frank de Boer spring to mind right away as they were promoted from within just like Sherwood
and neither of them had any experience with the senior team?

Don't know much about de Boer, but if Sherwood proves he's fit to lace either of their boots thenI will do a base jump from any location of ur choosing (I've never base jumped before, so I feel like that's fair-plus we can raise funds for SC)

We just have to settle on what constitutes lacing their boots.

(unless a majority of ppl disagree, die [or whatever the dutch definite article is] Erdivisie is lower than the prem)
