We've had some wonders at the back. Thirwell, Rocha, Vega, Austin Konchesky, Gilberto, Tramazanni to name a few! (possible wrong spellings there!). This potential defence now, with a huge character like Aurier - just wow!
How could you miss out Chimbonda and Atouba?

I kind of liked Chimbo. I dont remember him standing out as horrible on those mediocre sides.
I liked him too, and I accept that your post has a different crux, but would like to point out that those sides were not mediocre, they were the first to deliver us consistent European football in 2 decades, they included some players who really entertained (Berbatov, Keane, Defoe, Lennon, Carrick, even Steed) and the defenders were on the whole pretty good (and some great). That period also saw our last trophy win and some really memorable wins after years of being a team people mocked.

It's a shame Gazzaniga took 22. To have our two left-backs as 3 and 33 and our two right-backs as 2 and 22 would have excited me a bit.

He really wasnt but he signalled the beginning of the end for Lennon. He never adjusted to the idea of an overlapping full back.

But yes, chimbo was a very decent attacking full back at the time.

There's no doubt at all that he's a huge talent and a great signing football-wise...but he comes with a lost of off-field grief, which is why he should go for the reported 23M or so, which is practically pocket change for a footballer these days (Wimmer sold for 18M). If he had an unblemished record off-field he'd be going for 50M. Let's hope he can be molded into a positive influence off the field as well.

Smile everyone, it looks like this is happening and here is a vid when he had a great game against the arse.

Is he better than Walker I wonder. We have two of the best CB in the PL so we are looking at signing two more? We had one of the best RB in the league but we let him go and are desperately trying to replace him. Sorry not seeing an improvement that will get us the wins we need. We need speed in attack, and we all know if. Why is this not a priority and CB's are?
Honestly, the more I think of Aurier at Spurs the more I'm getting excited. Absolutely huge signing in my eyes and especially at £22-25million pounds. At his best he is literally is one of the best right backs in Europe and a perfect Walker replacement if not better. Now you cannot get a better manager in Pochettino that will provide him the training that will only benefit him and improve as a player and person. Big big signing. Fucking get in! COYS (y)
sorry but if he were one of the best right backs in Europe we would not be getting him for 22-25mil, especially in today's market. Obviously the boy has potential but let's not get carried away. In fact I have never heard another club mention wanting him. In fact like all the other players we have signed, I have only ever heard their names on this forum.
