SC Player of the year - The results!

Berba's reaction could easily be read as frustration, rather than disgust. After the goal, Berba pointed at Jenas and ran over to thank and congratulate him.

if he had did it in a different manner I would agree, say he put his hands in the air in frustration, then had a little smile then acknowledged the attempt by Jenas, thumbs up or a clap etc

with only seeing it once, what I remember was he just shoved his arms up in the air and didn't look too happy, while the commentators actually praised the attempted through ball by Jenas

guess I would need to see it again to be sure

I do remember him thanking Jenas for the supply for the goal though :wink:

Shocking result - not really clear how is it possible to have Keane 4:1 with Berbs. To give a comparison - who do you think MU supporters would chose - Ronaldo or Rooney (results & class vs. motivation & mileage).

Maybe some people should go and support Bolton or the like - they do have lot of players who run a lot and play with passion every game, plus there's no chance they will move to a bigger club as noone wants them.

Wonder who will be missed more if he left?

This is a shame - if you can't recognize someone's value you most clearly don't deserve it either.

Well obviously you don't see. Like a lot of people have missed the impact of Malbranque this season, Keane has, for the most part, had the right attitude this season when a lot of players went missing, including Berbatov. The Carling Cup aside, it has been a disappointing season for most of our players. Robbie is one of the few who can say he did his bit.

I'd also like a Number One Fan autograph :)

Not being funny in any way at all Dougal but what exactly is that??

As I've said in other threads he has tailed off of late, but then again, who hasn't. He certainly stood out until about February but then he read the thread 'Player of the Season so far' and decided to rest on his laurels :) I just think, in my opinion, from what I've seen, that without Steed's contribution this season we would have been in a much more desperate situation. And if you don't believe me I'll set someone else on you. Stoof.

That last sentence sums it up. With the voting system the way it is people are not ignoring Berbatov, he just came second, you get one vote and for many Keane edged it. For me it was a three way race and at different points I could have voted for either of the three. How does that mean that we don't appreciate him?

Maybe next year we can have a points system for your top 3 players.

1st = 5 points
2nd = 3 points
3rd = 1 point

Then perhaps people will notice that more than one player can get the recognition, unlike this system that so many people find hard to understand.

My point wasn't that Berbatov should have won necessarily, but out of Berbatov and Keane I can't see on what level Keane beats Berbatov by a ratio of 4:1. Keane was shocking at the start of the season, despite scoring and ifyou lok at his performances against the likes of arsenal and then look at his contribution in other games especially away from home you realise he certainly doesn't give his all very often. And theamount of times he jumps out of the way of a tackle, runs around the defender instead of challenging for a header or does that stupid dummy thing when he thinks he might get tackled is pathetic for someone who supposed to be a leader and "sheds blood for the cause" (probably the funiest and most innacurate quote I've ever read in relation to Keane).

Berbatov has scored exactly the same amount of goals, has more assists and since Ramos arrived has worked pretty hard nearly every game, frquently getting fouled and kicked for his trouble. Something Keane would never do.

The result last year was:

1: Dimitar Berbatov - 500 votes
2: Michael Dawson - 189 votes
3: Robbie Keane - 30 votes

It's a game of opinions. 20% agree with you, 80% don't. Does that make the 80% right? Not necessarily. But does it mean that at the end of the day Keane gets the Award? Yes it does.

what are you talking about?? our players had a good season, colectively and indivually. granted, malbranque, lennon , jenas zokora, chimbonda did not kick on and become the players some of us hope for but the team did well and scored goals, recovered from a disastrous start. we have not been conceding goals because the midfield wasnt working hard enough, or wasnt defensively good enough, we have been organised for the last 3 seasons. we just didn't have the experienced cover at centreback that was obviously needed, nor did we buy the competition that we needed at RB.

it's been a very good season, specially with the introduction and emergence of key squad members: ramos, ohara, hutton, kaboul .

only slightly tainted by affairs concerning levy, jol, defoe:)

Could his reaching the landmark of 100 goals for the club have influenced? Or the image of him lifting the CC? I'm not saying that's why he should have won, but maybe they had (rightly or wrongly) a bearing on it?

What I'm talking about is a team that finished 5th for 2 seasons running failing to get out of the traps at the start of this one. A team that might have clawed their way up to midtable but have done very little about taking the many chances to go top half and decided to end the season at Wembley (Chelsea game aside). A team that have been pitiful away from home. Yes, we scored a lot of goals but we also shipped a load aswell, that isn't a sign of a good team. I have no doubt that this team is capable of much better and I would be shocked if they decided they were happy with their lot this year. The Carling Cup has saved them from a slaughtering on here.

but the reason the team underchieved could have been simply avoided by buying experienced defenders last summer. if you are looking for scapegoats, do not look at the midfield, they worked hard enough, do not even look at the likes of dawson, who is one of the prime suspects, because he is young and it is understandable.

for underperformers this season, look no further than: levy, comoli.

(p.s comoli gets a (+2) for signing kaboul, , but a (-10) for sitting back content thinking that was fine and all we needed - spurs fans were happy when we signed kaboul - but comoli and levy should have known better)

I don't deny the abscence of King was a huge blow but I still think alot of the players failed to step up this season. As for Levy and Commolli, there's no doubting their biggest mistake of the season was their handling of getting Ramos in. They have their man now though. Time to draw a line under this season and work towards a future.
