We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of the great Jimmy Greaves, not just Tottenham Hotspur’s record goalscorer but the finest marksman this country has ever seen. Jimmy passed away at home in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 19 September), aged 81.

That's a big part of my life over I grew up with Greavesie Danny Dave Cliff, and other giants of the game, but Jimmy was my childhood idol.
Life feels a bit darker, a bit colder now. My own death a little closer, certainly a part of me has died today
Always in my heart Jimmy and all those other 60s legends that helped cement Spurs as one of the great English clubs

Ah, man. Genuinely saddened and shedding a tear here. Even though I suspect his quality of life wasn't what it might've been since the stroke.

Really makes me miss my father thinking about all the stories he would tell me of Jimmy and how gutted he would be today if he was still around.

A very sad day indeed, we all knew that this probably wouldn't be a long time coming, but it doesn't make it any easier hearing the news on today of all days it's with the irony of us playing Chelsea.......
