as I remarked when debating the jj dazza thread - I checked up on Dazz'a stats - and in one of them it was annoucing his leaving and beside it was a big quote from a spurs 'fan' saying 'good riddance'

so clearly that 'fan' didn't see him as a legend - and I can't tell you how much abuse 'sicknote' got on the forums and in the pubs/ground as season after season we saw our hopes evaporate with the likes of him Sir Les and Redknapp clogging up the treatment room

Daz and Sir Les I'm happy to call demi-legends - Redknapp - er best keep that on mute just like my TV whenever his face pops up on there slaggig off (er 'discussing') Spurs - a club that paid him a king's ransom for very little and still it seems he's bitter about us

oh and BTW yep those were great goals from him and ginola v Leeds - was there that night - a classic cup tie

and had the 'near miss' o ginola's gone in too - you probably wouldn't ever see a team score 3 better goals in one game

He wasn't a bad player, does anyone not remember how he screwed us when his contract was nearing it's end and half the ground waving their wallets at him when he demanded more cash although he had been out injured for months and months?

Has anyone on here met him? I must admit I haven't personally but know people who have who say the blokes an utter prick. I saw him during once during one of his infamous injury spells when he had been out for months. He was on the piss in the Vintry in St Albans chasing anything that moved, seemed fine to me.

Have a read of this from the bottom up to reacquaint yourself with him :-

Legend?? I don't think so. There was a reason why he didn't get a testimonial, noone would've shown up for it!!

Several of my mates have met him and all agree he is so far up his own arse he is embarrassing. Total prick by all accounts...top player though

Anderton was always my favourite spurs player in the 90s especially when i was 5,6 and 7 but after 98 he was never the same player, became inconsistent and was a bit like Redknapp, never got over his injuries but had the talent.

Whether hes a legend is a different debate and one i dont think you will win. Other players in the same side as him contributed more such as Campbell, Ginola, Sheringham etc. Very good player but not a legend.

Mr "im only not injured when an England Tournament is coming up" is a legend? do me a favour!

Was a decent player, injury provented him reaching full potential but Legend!!??

No way, not now, not ever. To put his name alongside the likes of real spurs legends mentioned in this thread is laughable.

oh, and we used to call him brick head as funny enough his head was the shape of a brick! lol

You're an idiot

..and you're a wanker. Because I have a differing view from you I'm an idiot?? Isn't that what a messageboard is for discussion? You might notice that many messages subsequent to mine agree that the bloke is far from a legend.

You should spend more time wanking off over your Anderton pics than extolling your 'intelligence' here it seems.

Odd Darren Anderton story. He came to my school once to do a charity presentation. I got him to sign my spurs shirt, and noticed he had cigarette burns all down his arm. Maybe his injuries got to him so much that he became a self-harmer??

F*ck me I didn't realise he was a self-harming, obnoxious, piss head:violin::hump::beer:

We need someone to deliver to the strikers as well as he did in the team now

And if living like that is the formula for success, we should hook Modric up with Aimee Winehouse

Yes, yes I would... as Dazza even stuck with us even he had a chance to oin Manure but he decided to stuck with us on id 90's. That he was a really injury prone does it mak him less Spurs legend than anyone of those, answer is no.

Did he turn the move down?

It was my understanding that the club did not accept Man Utds bid and Utd did not value him high enough to pay what it would take to get him.

This was all mostly paper talk anyway, which could mean there was never even a big and maybe never even any real interest from Man Utd.

I think if you consider Anderton to be a legend you either dont understand the word of you have not seen any real legends.

Calling Anderton a Spurs legend is like calling John Terry an England legend, good player yes...up there with the likes of Bobby Moore? of course not

(apply the same to Anderton and any of the names listed as legends who you suggested Anderton was on a level with)

I dont mean to come across as rude or condecending, im just trying to put my point across.

According to mensa boy from Sweden I am an 'idiot' for thinking he isn't a legend. Strange there seems to be quite a few of us that agree he isn't! We must all be idiots I suppose.

Now here's a real legend:-

I'm with LA and Anger, defo not a legend. Decent player in a fairly average Spurs team which made him look better than he was.

the england goal he took with his left foot in the dying moments against Sweden, Umbro cup (95?). Brilliant. Of course I remember him floating in a fair few crosses from midfield for Teddy to header in. At his best, was a technically brilliant player.
