I personally think Skipp was MOM today but can we bring back options for Team Effort and None Deserved?

Went for Bryan. If he builds on that he is going to be some player. He has the hustle of Modric. Wonder if any will rub off on Tanguy.

Honorable metions to Skipp, Tanganga and Dele.

Skipp from what I saw.
Bran was fantastic as well.

Davies did a lot better against Adams than I thought.

Skipp was immense and motm. What a performance. Love Bryan’s toughness, technique, and involvement in the game as well.

Was very happy with what I saw from Skipp - some good interceptions, tackles and some good passing as well - and he is certainly a MOTD candidate - 8.25/10

Gollini 7 couldn't do much with their goals and wasn't great but did well for their pens so 7

Tanganga 7 liked his application
Romero 6 got done a few times at key moments including their goal
Sanchez 6 looked back to headless Sanchez but did okay
Davies 7 looked solid and got forward, maybe I'm being kind as a good Davies performance

Alli 7 great ball for Kane otherwise a 6
Skipp 8 close to MOTM, some great tackles passes and was composed
Ndombele 7 some good moments but also some very bad moments, still prefer him to alli

Lo Celso 6 really starting to question what he offers us, see him in the midfield 3
Kane 7 took his goal well and should've got another but for their keeper
Gil 8 MOTM running all over the pitch, so many attacking runs and some great deliveries, unlucky to not get the goal after their keeper saved his goalbound shot

subs
Son 7 looked lively and added some more threat, almost got a great assist for Kane
Hojbjerg Reguilon N/A

Skipp.

Defence struggles without Dier. Hope he’s taken a big step this season now he’s the most senior CB.

Skipp should be picked ahead of hojbjerg when there is no need for both

Gils energy levels are exactly what we need

Romero is going to be class

tanganga definately 1st choice RB

put Ndombele further forward where he can’t kill us and no defending responsibilities (inc set peices)

lo celso and dele weak links

miss Lucas

Im giving my MOTM to Gil, because he was for me the only player to be "on it" and giving his all every second of that game start to finish, I love and admire that, also he played very decent too and was a bright spark for sure and won us numerous freekicks too.

If Skipp can play like he did after Wolves second goal, my lord he was fantastic from that point, the energy, drive, the commanding aura, the proactiveness, being 'on it' hardcore in general, driving us up the pitch, winning the ball and being aggressive, if he can be like that in majority part of games he plays in ,he can be awesome. In the first half he was ok, but like in other games he becomes a bit passive and drifts out of play at times.

Tanganga - Good intensity but needs to learn where to draw the line, gave away a number of silly free-kicks.
Romero & Sanchez - Both want to challenge every ball and both got done a few times. Their decision making worries me.
Davies - Didnt cost us anything which is about as good as you'll get from Ben.

Dele - Great ball for Kane otherwise pretty bad, so many missed place passes.
Skipp - Always working, some good tackles.
Ndombele - No middle ground with this guy. A lot of our best play atm is by him or through him yet he was also probably at fault for both their goals. I honestly dont know what we do with him, I feel he has to play yet also is somewhat of a weakness and needs protection around him.

Lo Celso - A ghost. Barely noticed he was on the field and when I paid specific attention to him I noticed his work rate & intensity was v.poor.
Kane - Better, looked far less leggy than recent games.
Gil - Lots of running, great intensity & some decent deliveries. Does seem somewhat lightweight, some extra gym sessions with Dele might do him good.

bryan - motm
I thought he was very watchable.

I'm disappointed we didn't play scarlett, Rodon and some of the youth.
Plus we got to hope Nuno knows what he's doing playing the first team in a minor competition just days before a game that could decide his long term future.

Skipp MOM for me, thought he was immense as our only DM. He was closely followed by Gil who definitely has something about him. Never stopped running and never stopped trying to make something happen. Also made a couple of great tackles on Traore. Not sure if it’s a good thing or bad thing that our two best players were our two youngest players!

We need to get some confidence. Playing the managers old team away adds pressure and to try and blend players in would have been a disaster. Personally I think he made the right call with the team selection. Rodon and Co can get some time in the Europa Conference.

Either Skipp or Bryan MoTM for me. Both did really well against Traore as well.

Gollini - couldn't do anything about the goals. Did ok without being tested too much

Tanganga very good but needs to tone the aggression down a notch.
Sanchez - back to last season's Davinson. Was afraid of this.
Romero - Struggled together with Davinson. I think he is partly to blame for the second goal - he should not step up there to try and cut off the pass, he has to drop and try and press Podence and try and cut of the angle for him to curl it around Gollini instead.
Davies - did well apart from his crossing which is just dire

Lo Celso - poor again.
Dele - some great moments such as the assist and some truly awful.
Ndombele - best player on the pitch for 30 mins then pretty much the worst. There must be something more to his lack of fitness, I cannot fathom how unfit a player can be when training every day and playing PL football.
Skipp - has a tendency to start slowly but grew into it as per usual.
Bryan - Combined well, always running and full of energy. Doesn't hide and struck a great pen. Should have scored in normal time though.

Kane - excellent first goal but missed a sitter in the second from a beautiful Son cross. Still not involved enough for my liking.

Subs:
Son - very good cameo.
PEH - poor pen
Reguilon - excellent pen

Nuno - I like that he acknowledges our obvious problems, such as set pieces, which Poch and Jose never did. But why is Tanguy marking the opposition's strongest set piece players? Tanguy was marking Dendoncker yesterday and Lukaku last Sunday - what is the actual thinking behind that? Why do we not have at least one player, like Tanguy for instance, covering one of the posts?

The positive:
- we look good as long as Tanguy isn't gasping for air.
- did create some excellent chances in the second half also this time, even if we lost control of the match.
- winning on pens again

The bad:
- we look much worse as soon as Tanguy tires, which is before the 40 min mark in high-tempo games...
- missing too many easy chances to put a game to bed.
