Won’t rate the subs but was great to see Sarr make an appearance and actually play well.

Thought Gil and Doherty were our best players of the first half. Had a dazzling 4 or 5 mins a couple of times that Villa defended well and then reverted to recent type. After Hugo made a mistake and it went in we panicked and lost composure, started makiing more mistakes and snatching at chances..

I'm of the opinion now that it isn't the players, its the system. 10 games in a row we've gone behind. It's a pattern, not a blip.

Kane had his worst game in quite some time imo.

kane disappoints me the most. 20mins before he got a touch. Why didn't he drop deeper a few times?
Without kulu, he is the creative player in the side, so he knows full well, if he wants the ball, he has to go get it himself. It is just lazy and as outfield captain, he sets the tone for the whole side.

Lloris 1 pretty much cost us the game.
Son 2, can't be much worse. Also lost the ball dangerously twice, just not good enough.
Most happy with Bryan for his effort, but soo light and just nothing happening from him. Maybe if we were a great team it would be easier.
Doherty 2, brings nothing, Conte system need monster wing backs, he's not it
Højbjerg 2, incredibly poor on the ball

Gil and Holberg for me, the two worst out there.

gil - not good enough for the level we need, not physical enough either.

holberg - not really his fault I guess, he isn’t the player to run at defenders, but his passing was seriously off today, kicked the ball straight out of play, gave villa possession which they then scored from.

First house call of the year for Dr. Tottenham. Our play had all the intensity of an episode of Trumpton. No idea what Conte is doing with this lot but we're getting steadily worse. None deserved MOM.

Son's touch is non league. (and that's doing a lot of non league players a disservice)
Thought Gil was the only bright spark in an otherwise one paced team lacking in agility.

A defender playing the ball into PEH in CM might as well just send it with a note saying "return to sender" Guy is so stiff and his touch is so hit and miss that he doesn't even attempt to look around and see whether he can turn or progress play, nut just pops it straight back. You mention half turn to Hojbjerg he thinks it's time to get some fresh milk...

Without the ability to play through midfield quicker we just look shite.

Barring some decent link up with Gil and Dohery we were awful.

Glad to see Sarr get some minutes.

I thought Perisic did okay. The two central midfielders were very poor. Lenglet played a good ball into Perisic that is what the midfielders are supposed to do.

None of them even deserved a shower after the game, but none of them broke a sweat anyway. All awful.

Disappointing all round. Romero looked sharp in possession so giving him MOM
3 - Lloris it keeps happening
5 - Doherty OK
7 - Romero. Sharp in the tackle and good simple passes
5 - Lenglet tried using the ball but caught defensively a few times

6 - Perisic Tried to make things happen
4 - PEH very safe on the ball and when his lack of control causes him to lose the ball regularly goes to ground
6 - Bisssouma strange, at times he did beat the immediate press and try to play us forward. Lost the ball more than he should. He certainly doesn't seem to be enjoying his football
6 - Gil loads of effort and tries to make things happen. Instrumental in a couple of spells of pressure down right side
5 - Kane nothing came off for him. Good header on target when under pressure.
3 - Son. Nothing sticks to him. Not worthy of a place in the side ATM. Looks unhappy
3 - Sess he is the nearly man. He nearly, gets a tackle, cross or dribble in but rarely achieves it
5 - Skipp Kept the ball moving
5 - Spence looked to use the ball going forward
6 - Sarr looked really tidy and assured. Good pace on passes
5 - Emerson not much time

0 - Conte continues to persist with a system that provides no impetus to our play relies on the wing backs to create. It's not working

Obviously we are unlucky with injuries, missing 3 creative players in Bentacur, Richarlison and Deki but it's the manager who packs the squad with defensive minded players. Very disappointing

Persisting with a system that is not only flawed, but without the right personnel in the right place.

A 343 is completely useless when youre on the attack. Both the wingback and the wide forward will repeatedly run into each other's space, rendering either one useless and leaving so much space in other areas of the pitch.

And add that to the insistence of playing players woefully out of form (Son), and playing players out of their best position (Perisic should play wide forward).

100% on Conte. Stubborn as hell. Big fat zero

Son and Perisic are constantly occupying the same space and looking for the same runs. Perisic is the older, more experienced and aggressive of the two so Son is generally the one to concede.

We look so much better in a 3-5-2, potentially with Kane as an 8 behind two from Son/Richie/Kulu. Unless we do this, and give Son the space and role he thrives in, then frankly I'd cash him in while his value is still high.

was a real team effort, the energy and effort was all there to see…..sadly it was only for the 1st 10 seconds of the game!

Ref was shite but to have 3 central defenders on a booking after 40 odd mins is just brain dead!

Lloris touched the ball once to give it to Watkins. Doherty was having a new year snooze to let buendia score. Was son on the pitch.? Then Hjojberg spraying a delightful 25 yard pass to Dave in row 5 was about the best bit
