I just think they'll be emotionally spent after the cup final.

Combined with the fact that they are awful defensively and Arsenal have hit form in terms of getting goals, it doesn't look pretty.

Could go one of two ways though. The Cup final win could leave them emotionally spent as you have suggested but also it could give them a huge amount of belief.

So what are the odds of some sort of controversy likes dodgy penalty, goal or sending off giving arsenal a win tomorrow!

Why are people saying that a draw in the Arsenal vs Wigan would be the ideal result. THe ideal result would be a Wigan win as it puts us in the best position. Yes, it will mean Sunderland need a result, but surely if we want to be in the CL next season we should be backing ourselves to beat Sunderland in a must win game.

Looking at the table it makes no difference to us if Arsenal drop 3 or 2 points at home against Wigan, if they draw we need a win and it makes Sunderland safe and hopefully gives us an easier game. If they lose to Wigan we still need 3 points as a draw would mean Arsenal could win and beat us on goal difference if we draw, plus Sunderland would have to win to guarantee survival.

I do agree that we should be backing ourselves to win and in some ways a Sunderland who need a win may make them more open and give us a better chance of breaking them down - I really don't know what I want, I def won't be unhappy with a Arsenal loss but equally a draw is great aswell !

Disagree. Against Swansea they were awful defensively, but they weren't really against us or City. A big part of that was missing both Boyce and Alcaraz for Swansea. Caldwell is a donkey, and was dreadful against Swansea.

As for Arsenal's attacking potency, they beat a hapless, already relegated QPR 1-0 and made it look difficult. Same against a 10 man Fulham team for most of the game. Drew 1-1 with a United team who were already on the beach. I've to seen much in terms of attacking prowess in the last couple of weeks, and they've been playing teams who's seasons have finished.

Just looking at the table if Toon beat the Gooners they can finish in top half, surely a bit of incentive there!!!

I think the scum will buckle under the pressure and wigan will win.

Just got that feeling.

They are due a slip up of some sort you would think, unbeaten in 8 or 9 games, im holding out more hope of Toon taking something off them on the last day. I just hope Chesney drops a clanger that gifts us 4th spot!

Think we finished with 70 points the year we made CL first time around? A win on Sunday will see us with a record tally though.
My mistake I thought it was 69 still not a bad return when not many of us expected much this year.
Lets hope we can do it Sunday then.

Wouldn't it be great if just once, just once it went Spurs' way. I'm not asking for much, just one time in years of bad luck and missed opportunities to shut up the smug gits across the road.

I'm hoping yesterday was the omen we have been looking for. Last season it was 1-1 vs Villa in the penultimate match. Similar to the Stoke game, Villa took the lead and from then on it was all Spurs for the rest of the game, plugging away but just couldn't find that break to get the goal. Yesterday Spurs got that goal and put us in touching distance with the Goons who last season drew at home to Norwich the day before the Villa game and drew 1-1 away to Stoke in their previous game.

It's our time now.

I don't have much faith in N'castle tbh. I think the high Wigan are on and the belief they will now have from beating City - with all their riches and talent - in an FA cup final(!) will give them all the belief they will need to think they can turn over the scum. Gonna be a fast and furious game and Arsenal will go crazy from the off and wigan will have good opportunities to counter if they press and win the ball.

The match will probably be counter after counter from both sides. I expect a crazy game.

Their determination to stay in the division will give them the energy they need.

One thing for sure is that they will not give up at any point, which is fantastic for us.

Would rather be in our position than Arsenal's now tbh. They've got 2 chances to fuck it up, we only have 1 :p

Points on the board always better than games in hand. You never know what can happen.

.

I feel ya, but sometimes you just think the gods of football are trying to teach us to take our chances when the going is good and never take anything for granted i.e. stop shooting ourselves in our foot.
