None of the European leagues will start adapting for it until the season that starts after Euro 2020. All regular domestic and CL/EL campaigns between Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 will be heavily disrupted with all sorts of changes to create an 8 week period in November and December 2022 where they fit the world cup in (including pre-camp and a week or two for recovery after) and then it will be back to normal after the summer of 2024.I genuinely think there's a fair chance Qatar 2022 still won't happen. One major factor - no leagues so far have started making changes to their schedule to accomodate it, or discussing what they're going to do. If they were sure it was happening, I expect we'd be progressively starting the season a week earlier each year or something so that a World Cup sized gap could be created in the middle without just not having an off-season in 2022 or something mad. And trying to make them actually suspend their programs is going to be a major fight - you can be sure the Premier League, for instance, will be looking at whether there's a legal claim for compensation considering the damage to the TV rights value etc.
