I'm not sure if Qatar could successfully sue anyone if it's proved that they corrupted FIFA officials? I'm sure they'd try but it would be ridiculous.

How about if they could prove FIFA officials asked to be bribed and made it clear this was the only way they would get the World Cup?I'm not sure if Qatar could successfully sue anyone if it's proved that they corrupted FIFA officials? I'm sure they'd try but it would be ridiculous.
The defence would be it was always thus.
FIFA would be terrified.
Maybe they are hanging out blatter to dry. A rebirth like the Olympics.
Whether that will save billions in compensation waits to be seen.

Dodgy ground all round, plenty of other tournaments/finals/olympics have been awards this way and it seems that FIFA encourage officials to take the bribes - once you're in the club you can't speak out.
It would certainly be amusing if this is what brings FIFA down.. not expecting that to happen but it would be good.

Fifa wouldnt go bust well it shouldn't, its non profit organisation that makes billions. So unless they get sued of billions, I cant see it happeningThis could ruin FIFA. I doubt it but it could.
If they re run the vote and Australia gets it, who are due and it would greatly energise a part of the globe to get serious about football (blatter dream) (( worked well in SA......))although personally I feel its too big an area for a wc. Much like Brazil and Marika. But that's an aside. Then Quataris would sue. Their lawyers would dig up all sorts of dodgy shit about Russia and other winners before and sue for losses over the binding contracts they signed with companies over building infrastructure. A lot of those companies are French and German owned. They wold also sue FIFA.
Were talking billions.
What might happen is FIFA might have to go bust.
I doubt it. They are pretty much untouchable.
At least the Indian caste system has one relevant meaning.
Every cloud.
The other FAs should sue FIFA, though. They spent fortunes on their bids when the result was already decided. Then the talk of moving it to winter when everyone bid on a summer tournament.Fifa wouldnt go bust well it shouldn't, its non profit organisation that makes billions. On what grounds could Qatari sue, they would sue the members who took the payments not fifa since they would of been fired
I think the FA's can sue for expensesThe other FAs should sue FIFA, though. They spent fortunes on their bids when the result was already decided. Then the talk of moving it to winter when everyone bid on a summer tournament.
Maybe the spiral of litigation would be enough. That NY Times piece I posted has the idea of forming 2 governing bodies - one for the game and one for the rules. Having the same body deciding whether it broke the rules or not is like asking turkeys to vote for Christmas.
I hope that the world cup in Qatar is forced to go ahead. It will be amusing to watch millionaire footballers passing out left right and centre and the fat FIFA flunkies, Hugo Boss suits dripping with sweat, having coronaries in the stands as they present Saudi Arabia or Iran with the world cup trophy all because they didn't want to hand back their bungs.
Not just Sony. All the other main sponsors - apart from Emirates Airlines (surprise, surprise!) - are also now calling for an investigation:http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jun/08/world-cup-sponsor-sony-investigation-qatar-bid
Sponsors look like they are beginning to grumble.. maybe they will switch it to the UK, thus also buggering the Scottish Independence vote
Well you couldn't expect Emirates to do anything they are probably just as guilty of poor working conditions in UAENot just Sony. All the other main sponsors - apart from Emirates Airlines (surprise, surprise!) - are also now calling for an investigation:

"There is a sort of storm against Fifa relating to the Qatar World Cup," Blatter said. "Sadly there's a great deal of discrimination and racism."
And we know how heavily blatter punishes racism, right....Apparently all of you who oppose a Qatar World Cup are racist.

Just beggars belief really. And we know how heavily blatter punishes racism, right....
