First, let me say I don't condone any remonstrating with the refs, but as long as it's tolerated by the league, it will continue to happen. That done, he has a massive point - Kane should have been sent off, and Emerson's challenge on Jota was a stonewall pen. We massively lucked out that neither was given. It's a problem with the game that many newer referees never grew up playing the game to any sort of a decent level. When you've played the game, you recognise things on the pitch that others who haven't done so do not. Last, it's always the winning managers who get stick for giving out to refs. Opposing fans all hate it, but I guarantee his players and the fans love him for it as he's always sticking up for them, no matter what the circumstances.

I get when people say this, but the amount of work it takes to make it to the PL means you have to decide pretty early that you're better off reffing than playing. And they players who did make it to a decent level don't want to ref EFL games for 30k a year while working a second job.

For my part I've been saying for ages that PGMOL and other refereeing organisations need to look at kids who don't make it at academies and try to recruit as many as possible. There might be a good reason why this isn't done but I would think having a kid in who has played the game at top youth level would have a great starting point to becoming a top ref.

And a lot of released kids fall through cracks in society and feel out of place not being around football - there's your chance to dive back in.

I also think both Delaney and Pitt-Brooke (Delaney more so) are on the money here

As a television and entertainment spectacle which is the reason the PL is the richest in the World and our club was rich enough to be invited to the ESL, Kane not getting a red card in the 20th minute certainly made for a better game.

A bit F1-ish I know.

Any rumours about what the decision will be today after the meeting of premier league clubs? Im guessing now that Klopp and Tuchel are saying it should shut down then its almost inevitable that it will be?

I think losing the midweek fixtures looks very likely. So Boxing Day New Year’s Day remain.
This is what I'm reading too. No shutdown but moving that one round to relieve the pressure on the Christmas period.

Definitely, but with VAR you also heighten the expectations. I think most people can live with the on field ref making mistakes, but when the VAR is incapable of correcting it, it becomes more of a problem.

Probably not bad for us. We’ve had our major outbreak and didn’t have to play the games but looks like our rivals will have to play on .

U21s who have first team experience HAVE to step in.

So for us that's probably just Scarlett

Depends if the say it's PL experience or any experience, as a lot more have had first team games in cups and Europe.

Seems to be a disparity between coaches/playing staff who are concerned about the fixtures and the meeting between the clubs. Would it be too cynical to suggest the board members told the playing staff, 'yeah don't worry, we'll push for a break' then met up, did some hookers and cocaine, thought 'we want money' and quietly decided not to kick up a fuss?

Though the issue with my half baked conspiracy theory is that there'd be animosity between the playing staff and the board. Wouldn't be the first time.

Looking from a purely pragmatic perspective, I think this is probably the right way forward, for now. It’s going to be very difficult to fit the games in before the summer if we keep having to postpone fixtures.

This doesn’t bode well for player‘s safety however, I already believe there’s too much football being played and this kind of situation is a symptom of that. The preposterous winter World Cup this time next year, coupled with all the international breaks, is going to mean that player health is at the bottom of the pile anyway.

This is the bed the governing bodies have all made for themselves.

Don't think Mundle has featured for us, J'Neil Bennett has 9 minutes.

We should be pretty safe, must have some anti bodies around the squad by now.
