Sorry but i thought clear and obvious and also with the intro of VAR are we now removing the benefit of the doubt to the attacker?

Surely the camera angle plays a massive role there?? Every other angle makes it look like sterling was behind him.

I agree it seems harsh but if you're going to use it you have to stick to the rules. Or else where do we draw the line? 2mm offside for liverpool or city and it's a goal but the same 2mm from a different ref against us or someone else and people will scream corruption.

I know offsides are black and white but ... that doesn't sit right with me.

I agree. Offside was designed to stop goal hanging, not to stop an attacker being an inch ahead of a defender. I'd prefer it if the entire body had to be ahead of the defender to be offside.
