You can't polish a turd so why bother until Levy opens the clubs wallet and signs Ange a couple of top class centre backs.
Yeah - I would say a starting LCB is a must - in the next week. And, I would add a starting LB to the list also - Reguilon just turns off too many times for my liking.

Ange taking the blame for the defensive lapses in his post match interview on Spurs Play.

Says they haven't really worked on defensive structure. I don't blame him as he needs better players in that part of the pitch.
I'm sure he's got question marks internally. But really good management not to call out the individual errors.

How the fuck did we not win that never mind lose.
Reminded me of those times pre fossil football when West Ham would just nick one out of nothing. For our first game not too unhappy with that: WH have had 3 games so far in their pre season. I reckon if we were a few games in the score line would’ve been the reverse if not better. Richie’s shooting was rusty to say the least.

As much as I agree, and i did genuinely enjoy that, I am a little worried because from the game (and training clips) it is obvious the attacking sequences have been worked on but are we working on defensive play too?
You dont see much of that in the training videos and there was certainly no evidence of it today in our play. West Ham barely attacked but when they did we were very flimsy

Ange just admitted that they haven't worked on defensive structure so far.

He has been focusing on what we do with the ball. I also think once we get better defenders in things will improve.

How refreshing for the younger lads like Devine that after years of neglect under previous regimes, there is a real chance to shine now

Glad in a weird way we still looked poor defensively as it will further highlight to those in charge that we need new defenders

Or, and work with me, he has developed under the previous regimes to get to the point where he can contribute now.

We can look forward, without always having to complain about the past.

Given we'll be a high pressing side I think that suits Gio more so than Tanguy as well, but we will see.
The ball doesn't move quickly off of Ndombele's feet either. He's a nice addition if you need someone to carry the ball but after watchign one half, i'm not convinced he fits Ange's system in posession or out of posession. Would enjoy hearing more informed opinions on the same matter though.

In an ideal world, we move on 6 of Davies, Reguilon, Sanchez, Rodon, Dier, Japh, and eventually Sess replacing with Van de Ven and one other CB. Then VDV becomes LB cover as well as CB option. I really don't see a world in which that happens though. I especially can't see Davies and Dier leaving.

No shame in the result imo.

We are not here to pick up points in pre-season friendlies. Players need to get their work in, start adapting to the new tactics, and give the manager an opportunity to assess.
Yeah I live in Oz, so meant more from the perspective of the fans who went & don't get many opportunities to see us play live. From the teams perspective I'd agree & be focussing on the 30 shots to 4 & 70% possession

Coaching can only do so much. The switching off we see consistently from our defenders I am not so sure you can "coach" that out of them. You can certainly mask lapses in concentration in the way you setup the team to play but with the way Ange wants us to play we won't be able to mask those lapses and it will cost us goals unless we get defensive reinforcements in.

Yeah I would say Davies and Dier are probably here for the season.

But this is where Levy decides how much ambition he has - and how interested he is in finishing in the top-5. We have a good core. But we have a few glaring holes that must be fixed if we want to really contend for CL spots. We can't just paper over them, and it would be a disservice to the other players to ignore those positions.
