Surprised Skippy on the tour , he's young but only just finished with England so hardly any time off, other than that seems like everyone has a chance of being in the PL squad for the new season.
Skipp strikes me as the type of lad who would've travelled with the squad with no break at all.
Don't think he'd have taken a break even if the club told him to.

that Defense is seriously atrocious.
So let me ask you this - was the issue the players, or the manager?

Because a lot of people put a lot of blame on the manager. Maybe the players perform differently with a new manager, or a new system. We, nor Ange, will know that until he puts them through the paces.

Or, maybe its the players.

But, we are fairly confident that we are looking at bringing in new CBs, and so its worth finding out who can play in this new system, and who should be shipped out in August.

A mixture of mangers, CBs and midfield IMO. Play a defensive set up and not control the midfield just puts more and more pressure on the defenders, which will give at times (even if we had world class CBs).

Play more attacking with more control in midfield will help the defence out. But we will need to replace at least Dier.

Go through my posts, I’ve always said it was a combo of the two, but you can’t disagree seeing the defensive options listed down like that, it’s poor.

I’d struggle to think if any aside from cuti, maybe porro get into any of the top 4 squads let alone starting line up. (Destiny obvs untried)

Think it is a mistake to take all these players.

Saw what happened with Chelsea when they had 30 senior players in their squad. You can obviously take 30 players on a tour but you need more than 3 of them to be young players.

I guess Ange is trying to create open competition but in reality it won't work like that. There are so many players in that squad that have been beaten down by the Spurs system that the first time they dont get picked in the right training session their heads will drop and be why the fuck am I the other side of the world for a team I am not going to be at?

The biggest mistake though as always is the ownership, how we don't have deals lined up for 5 or 6 of these players is bizarre mismanagement. Absolutely woeful at selling.

Month till the start of the season, 6 weeks left till the end of the window etc. but it does feel like we are drifting into the same old mistakes. Contract's should have been ripped up and a defender should already be signed.

The positions are not set in stone but here's a quick breakdown of whose going on the tour.

GK
Guglielmo Vicario
Alfie Whiteman
Brandon Austin
Josh Keeley

RB/RWB

Porro

LB/LWB
Reguillon
Udogie
Davies
Perisic

CB
Romero
Dier
Sanchez
Rodon
Tanganga

DM

Skipp

CM
PEH
Tanguy
White
Sarr
GLC

AM
Maddison
Devine

I'm betting we'll see perisic mainly as a lw/rw option instead of a lb, seeing as we have more than adequate cover there already.

I also believe this to be the case.

Ange may have told the recruitment team to work on the new CBs while we're on tour, while he assesses the current options to see who he wants to keep. Maybe it ends up being Japh or Dav?

Well, this shows that Ange really is taking a proper look at everyone in the squad. Only Hugo missing from the 'expected outs' and that is probably down to an agreement for his long service.

On another note, it cannot be the most productive or good for camaraderie to have so many traveling players who have an eye on the door or who are disenfranchised at the club.

I get why it needs to be that way, in order for Ange and the coaching squad to assess who they want in the squad. But it’s a damning verdict on our recruitment and selling, that he has to sift through such a large pool of players, many of whom don’t want anything to do with the club.

I like the approach. Ange true to his word. Stick them all in a goldfish ball, watch them, look at the squad dynamics and then sort the wheat from the chaff. No one in their comfort zone. Winner mentality.

Interesting to see if the exact same squad that goes on tour comes back together & if there’s any changes
