"barking out orders" LOL give me strength. the ability to lead has very little to do with shouting.

Really surprised at the support for Walker.

I really like him, he's potentially a great future captain - but FAR too soon for him IMO. He still has much to prove.

As Club Captain, Dawson deserves to keep the role, if he does go though i would imagine Brad will take over that honour simply for his amazing attitude and level head when dealing with the press, promotions, campaigns etc. The guy is a complete pro.

On the pitch, it makes me sad to say i can't imagine any of what most would consider our first eleven as Captain - last year, under AVB, every one of them let themselves down, let the situation get to them, failed to put in the effort and supply the encouragement you'd expect from your Captain. It doesn't fill me with confidence but, if we had to pick one of our squad to lead the line, at the moment i think... strap yourselves in... i think i'd go with Dembele. Simply for the fact that I don't agree with keepers being Captain (too isolated) else i would also have said Lloris, Sandro has too much of a firey temper, Eriksen is too quiet, Kaboul is too injury prone (atm), Vertonghen is too quick to fling his toys out the pram (and lets be honest, he's still hoping a Champs league side will come in for him, so not convinced his head is 100% with the team), Lennon is just too Lennony - the only other one with an attitude that i think befits the armband is *sigh* Adebayor *sigh* and that would be fine if you knew which Ade you were getting from one match to the next.

So i'd say if he stays, Dawson keeps it, if not Dembubbles to be offered it.

Massively this. A captain can't be someone with so many mistakes in his game.

If Verts pulls his head out of his arse this season, and makes CB his own then captaincy is made for him. Understand the calls for Lloris but a GK should only be chosen in the absence of a suitable outfield option, and Verts offers this potential in the bucketloads.

I love Lloris but I'm not overly keen on keepers as captains. Verts for me.

Well the poll's certainly conclusive (so far). Hugo it is then. Not a bad shout I guess. If he can captain his country, he can captain Tottenham.

If Lloris can captain that France team from being the sham that it was a few years back to being as harmonious as it looked in the WC, then I'm all for it.

Vertonghen has experience at Ajax, but he's a bit of a whiner. Lloris is also unlikely to be out with injuries and therefore has another nod for consistency.

Hugo. If one of our outfield players are going to step up and lead, not having an armband isn't going to change anything.

The most professional player at the club is the man I want as captain.

A captain is a player who merits being on the field at all times. Looking at that list only Vert Walker and Lloris demand this.
That said I don't like keepers to be skipper. Walker lacks the mental concentration to play his game and be generally responsible. That leaves Vert. True he was less than satisfactory in many ways last season but I have always believed that he was a future leader. If he stays he is the man to be captain.
