On a brighter note...

What a piece of skill and cross from N'Koudou. Could he still have a future?

This sounds rather ominous. I hope so.

On topic, Poch said after the game tonight that he and Levy are frustrated about signings but need to be patient.

Seems like most agree with you, ex-players, pundits, ITK’s all find that very concerning too.

Mind you, the BSoDL interpret Poch’s words to mean he’s as chilled out as a cucumber on pot and loves everything about the clubs transfer strategy. The fact that his comments have turned into a media circus, to the detriment of the clubs reputation in the middle of a prestigious pre-season tournament, is seen as nothing out of the ordinary and quite normal, unleashing a verbal tirade on anyone who dare suggest otherwise. :cautious:

You decide, but watch your back.
There's a middle ground in this.

His first season he moaned about "I'm just the coach" and kept suggested he wanted to be a 'manager'.

My guess would be that he's since realised that being involved in transfers isn't like the 90's when you'd meet a player in a Little Chef at the services and scribble numbers on a napkin. It's a multi-billion pound industry, and it must be stressful as fuck when agents want 8-figure fees out of your budget.

He'll be prickly because of the way that Betis have probably been winding everyone up, if you take what's said as verbatim.

So I don't believe he means what he says in the post-match pressers, he's just feeling the pressure imo. A lot of managers are these days - I can't think of any that have weathered at a CL club well.

Well the media have all been briefed clearly from the Spurs PR team that Poch title wont change and he is apart of a 4 man committee

Its in the telegraph from Matt Law along with the Mirror and Mail so whichever way in which you analyse his quotes I think its a safe assumption that the club are not happy with what he said.

He doesn't do negotiations.

I don't think anyone is stupid enough to believe he has no say in targets.

Of course they are not. That’s the whole reason he said it - to ruffle some complacent feathers.

Yeah he has absolutely no need to word it in the way that he does unless hes trying to make a point, if hes sick of the media asking the same questions he neednt make things worse by giving the answer he does, Ole and Klopp have been asked the same and didnt.

FWIW Hercules was literally the first one to winner my post, im sure he cant elaborate but make of that what you will considering I said the club are clearly unhappy with whats been said.

Might not be happy with what's been said or the way it's been spun. Spurs pr team just doing their job i guess.

They haven't said anything new though. We've known for years how the system works. Pleat explained it, levy explained it.

Well that told me eh?

I'll try one more time to see if it sinks in.

In the early 90's we were bankrupt, on the verge of ceasing to exist as a club. Alan Sugar then stepped in and halted the hemorrhaging, but did nothing to advance the club. We remained in limbo with virtually zero funds, no coherent strategy for our future, a dwindling fanbase and on the verge of ending up like Burnley with a glorious distant past with a bleak future as a team making up the numbers. We were a laughing stock to every team in the league with the likes of Ferguson coming out with that famous quote "lads, it's Tottenham."
Then ENIC took over, with Levy taking the reins. Over that time he's employed a policy of regular player trading where we consistently upgraded our playing staff. We took a number of hits on managers, but the whole time he was looking to set in place a system whereby we'd identify good prospects, get them in cheap, develop them and get us competing at consistently higher levels. The first fruits of this success were when we then qualified for Europe under Jol.

All the time this was going on, ENIC were quietly buying up parcels of land for the training complex and the stadium, the plan being to get our foundations right so that we could consistently compete at the highest level.

We now see this vision coming to fruition as we are now competing at that highest level with regular title challenges, cup finals and, something I only ever dreamed of, challenging for the biggest honour in club Football, the CL title. The only thing missing to date has been the cherry on top of a title or trophy.

Now we had a league cup win under Ramos, so you actually believe that was glory? I can barely remember that, what I do remember was the following season where we were getting reamed until Harry took over.

Glory my arse. We were still inconsistent, weren't close to challenging the Sky 4 and were still seen as a laughing stock "cup team" by everyone else. Aspirations above our station with the odd 2 Bob cup win to crow about.

That may satisfy you, evidently it does from your tirade, but it doesn't me. I want ys back where we were in the 60's, one of the most feared teams in Europe, only I want more. I want us to exceed what we achieved and I want us to do it for longer. I want the kind of success Utd had under Ferguson. The thing is, Ferguson achieved what he did because the clubs foundations were solid already, and even then he needed a fair bit of fortune, something we haven't had with the emergence of Chelsea and then City.

Even so, we've consistently gotten bigger, closer to the glory and it hasn't been inconsistent, it's been sustained. That is all down to Levy.

It's a tired and.lazy insult to use the "Levy lovers" fallback line, that's the routine of the wilfully ignorant when there is overwhelming evidence to prove you wrong, much of which I've already posted. It would be nice to think you'd stop and ruminate over that, but I won't hold my breath.

Some people are prepared to revise their opinion when facts are put before them, others CHOOSE to ignore those facts because they don't fit their narrative. I'm going to bet now that you won't refute one single thing I've said, won't offer any kind of counter argument to demonstrate that I'm wrong because...

The best you'll offer is a disagree, the worst being another Levy lover rant, the middle ground being another inarticulate rant about "glory."

Prove.me wrong.

not being funny but the thing with fans forums, people can sign up with a Spurs name, but support a rival. they know that they can go on a forum and post everything that might be a negative, because they know someone like you, or me or many others will defend it. they sit back and look at the screens sitting their laughing their arses off with a scorecard Troll 1 Spurs fans 0.

I find it so hard to believe so many fans can't understand that the stadium build would effect our spending. or understand the money needed to compete with Chelsea or Man City would mean we would be in serious debt. don't get me wrong I was fuming with Levy when we only signed Nelson and Saha because we was most probably in a better position then compared to the time we finished 3rd to Leicester (that posters main weapon, they have done nothing else) and when finishing 2nd to Chelsea. to compete regularly with the top teams we had to move away from our small stadium.

our record profits was due to playing at Wembley and averaging massive crowds, and an ok run in the CL. with everything going wrong with the stadium, and whether it was Poch or Levy not buying the players (the doubters/haters & Trolls) will always blame Levy, even if it came out of Pochettinos mouth, the fact we had so many players play to the final weekend of the WC, no preseason, no new signings and an injury list of 6-7 most weeks, played 59 out of a possible max 64 fixtures, with all our international players playing in a hyped up international tournament. the only time they got a break was being injured.

now we have had news that both Fulham want silly money and players for Sess, and that Betis are moving the goalpost (same group auto blame Levy) they haven't signed yet, but the earliest GLC would of ben with us would of been today, Sess has only just started back, and if both arrived today they wouldn't get to be involved in anyway because we're not even in England.

I will totally understand if by 17.01 8th August we haven't signed those 2 at least, but it's now the 1st August still time to get them in. perhaps Levy broke the news before the press about both clubs being pains, and then he walked in to questions again about transfers, after beating RM.

Fair play you must Mr Levy but don’t insult me as you don’t know me, I’ve been a fan no doubt as long as you? I’ve remember the mediocrity of mid table trying to win to stay up. I remember the good times in the early 80s with Ossie and Villa, Parksey in 84 to take us to European glory beating forest then Leicester and finally beating Chelsea in 2008. But one thing you seem to forget them dates will be etched in our history. Not finishing in the top four every year and getting to the odd final. So please before you attempt to mock me I don’t want be known as the nearly boys being mocked as the same old spurs comments they all used to call us. I want history it’s been 11 yrs then another 5 then another 5 as fans we can see all the profits being made, sponsorship deals , NFL etc. We are now a billionaire club with bottom wage structure . That needs to change for us to progress but under Levy and Lewis who I thank for all the off field infrastructure, I don’t care about that I care about the history the glory which I’m afraid will not happen under Levy and Lewis’s tenure. If does I will hold my hands up, so please don’t insult me because of my opinion as I respect yours. But it will not happen under Levy

if you remember the 80's you must remember that Liverpool where a massive club and rich with it. at the end of the 70's Forest won Div2, then went onto win Div1 (tell me if you think that will ever happen again). Football changed at a time we went backwards and Man C and Chelsea made it even harder to compete, as well as the other dominant teams since the Premier and CL was formed. to win the CoC and FA Cup you needed the luck of the draw. Now you need the luck of not only the draw, but hope Man City get knocked out a long the way.

the sponsorships will only just kick in, we've just had a season a lot of our season ticket holders received the majority of their money back, crowds in a stadium that was costing us money per game, the NFL money will be paid seasonally they haven't played there yet, and we was told we had 4 targets, 2 which we bought and 2 that have only just returned. why not wait till we definitely don't buy them before kicking off on a rant

If you didn’t read what I said the infrastructure is now complete and I thank them for that no excuses now so we will see what Levy and Lewis are made of. I will reserve my judgement,so your obviously not getting what I’m saying we pay bottom half wages for a billionaire club in my opinion yes my opinion that will not change hope I’m wrong but will not, so we will not go to the next level as players will get more money at other clubs, as all Levy and Lewis care about is money they are an investment company. And going back to Liverpool , Utd, Madrid , Barca you haven’t got a case there they have been winning trophies for 60 to 70 yrs if not more our last era was really 60/61 nearly 60 yrs ago so your talking rubbish there we miles behind.

we are bottom of the top 6 in wages, but closer than we was when we was at WHL. we are a billionaire club when it comes to selling it, but unlike every club the only debt we have is due to the stadium. why build up a debt for something that isn't guaranteed, and at the time when at WHL we wouldn't be able to cover.

you do know that a rule has been introduced called FFP don't you. because we have a high value on the market doesn't mean we can go out and spend 300m and add the wage increase and stay in that

True - saying that, I also remember our fightback to win the FA Cup sans Gazza in the 91 cup final and Nielsen scoring the goal in the 1999 league cup final so yes, there are wonderful moments that didn't result in trophies but I will always remember the finals. I accept that there are fewer trophies out there that we want to really compete in but I can't accept that winning trophies isn't important. There is no point in being involved in competitive sport if the ultimate aim isn't to win trophies and I don't feel that we will truly be an elite team until we take that final step and win a major trophy. That's not to say I'd sulk when we don't but the objective should always be to win a trophy.

not being funny but if we wasn't trying to win anything and just concentrating on top 4, why have we played in 2 Finals and 3 semi's and 4 top 4's since Poch took over. it would of been great to of won them, but unfortunately we never had the luck on the day.
