Massive overreaction in here to be honest. We've seen his undeniable quality in the first 8 games of the season, and he hasn't just turned to shit overnight. I think the fact that, through his own doing, he's been in and out of the team through suspension has weighed on him a bit. When he has a solid defensive pair behind him again I think he'll find his form, just in time for us to lose him to the AFCON.
I’ve not seen much overreaction. People are entitled to say if they think he had a poor or good game. I think he was poor for the third goal - not sure if thats deemed an overreaction

They clearly targeted him and got at him whenever he received the ball. They shut him down pretty effectively and forced mistakes, and that isn't Bissouma's fault or reason to criticize. As for the 'mistake', yes, it did cost us, but he was a gnat's away from nutmegging Rodri and getting clear of 4 of their players. The break was on with just a tad more luck. Just like Ange, he was brave and stuck to his principals and whilst he's getting flak just about everywhere, I doubt Ange is giving him any.
He didn’t need to nut Meg Rodri to be clear of four players - he could’ve just passed it 5 yards to his left and we would’ve been passed them. 🤣 he made a mistake and ultimately it didn’t cost us the match. He’s a good player and hopefully he will learn from it. It’s about selecting the right option - there will be a time that his ability will get him out of tight situations, it’s learning when it’s necessary. If he had no pass on he would’ve had little choice but to do what he did. As for saying Ange won’t give him flak for it - I’m sure he’ll have a little word to highlight how he should’ve passed it out of trouble rather than run into trouble

If he made the 5 yard sideways pass each time it was the more sensible option, we might as well stick with Hojbjerg. Ange's style is high risk and thoroughly entertaining as a result.

There’s a time and a place to take that risk - if he had no pass on he would’ve needed to take a risk. Just because someone passes it 5 yards to get it out of trouble doesn’t mean we should stick with PEH and that’s not really anything to do with this.
The high risk is going one v one at the back with a high line to squeeze the game and push more players forward, and passing it out of the back to break a press and create overloads - not turning into 4 players and giving away soft goals. They’ll be a time when he needs to turn (and use his ability) to beat the press and times to play simple to beat the press - it’s about selecting the right option, which is difficult with the pace of teams pressing. It’s all a learning curve for them at the moment and hopefully it’s something he’ll learn from.

100% this. I can't remember exactly when it was, I think some point between the Grealish and Deki goals but Porro plays a blind back-heeled pass in to our penalty area under pressure from Haaland. It's that kind of thing I watch and think yeah, Ange has told them to go and play in whichever way makes them comfortable.

This is what I mean by an overreaction. On another day Bissouma weaves out of trouble and we're all lauding that moment and saying "he's back". It's so easy to criticise a player for making a mistake when it leads to a goal, when it's similar to a move which has got them out of trouble many times in the past.

If he wants to do the exact same thing against West Ham, in the exact same position, go ahead.

You’re very sensitive if that’s classed as an overreaction 🤣

You're the guy who makes the memes with the annoyingly needless added emoji's, aren't you?
Sorry mate, the sly dig is lost on me as I’m on this forum but don’t go on any other social media platforms. Hopefully, you felt better for it tho…

Don't be surprised if he picks up once Romero and VdV are back in the side.

If you are a player looking to turn and play forward in tight areas it makes a hell of a difference how the pass is played to you. If it's fired straight at you it's far harder to adjust and turn than it is if it's played the way you should be moving in order to turn. Good clever players will give you that tiny bit more quality in the pass to make your job easier.

Also knowing you have a solid technically good outlet both in front and behind you, gives you more options and less to think about.

I'm not worried at all tbh and I'm sure he will improve once the quality around him picks back up.
It is absolutely this.

I can't remember what game it was now but Bissouma had been playing superbly and we made a couple of changes and all of a sudden he started making mistakes.

It was clear he was concerned with passing to certain players in certain situations.

Add in a bit of doubt to Bissouma's game and he is not going to peform to his top level.

This is a player who loves to drop a shoulder. deceive and wriggle past players but he needs that stability and assurance to giev him the confidence to try it.

Not having that behind him will play on his mind and make him second guess doing his 1v1 dribbles in front of the defence,

To be fair though Bentancur looked better in that role with the same defence. I know City are another level but I think Bentancur plays that role better. Another example is how he did with Sanchez, Dier and Davies behind him under Conte. Its a good job he also plays well in the 8 so we can use both. However Sarr is going to be great competition so I would not be surprised to see Bentancur, Sarr and Maddison as the 3 at the end the season. Bissouma is a bit too inconsistent and sloppy at times but on his day he's a great player. Bentancur is just more consistent and the sign of a top player is one who performs better regardless of the players around him. For me Hojbjerg looks more composed with Bentancur than Bissouma too.

Nah, bring Harry home. Winks that is.

I havent even seen Hojbjerg play as bad as Bissouma did today. That was a performance that showed why Conte refused to play him. Brutal, brutal performance. And we cant really afford those. Need much better from him against West Ham.
Watch spurs Vs villa away I think it was last year hojbjerg was so bad the away fans were posting videos of him mocking him.

Was a bad mistake but he showed his quality at the beginning of the season.

He has to get back on his game quickly.
