I hate that argument. Poch has shown no real signs of wanting to leave or that he hands out these types of ultimatums.Probably true, but MP might use this as an excuse to leave the club himself.

Yup, they definitely overplayed for Andy Carroll, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Stewart Downing.Difference is Liverpool don’t piss about when they have money to spend. They are prepared to “overpay” in order to secure their targets.
We on the other hand.... well I don’t need to explain as we all now how we roll.
He needs JanAnyone watching getting slated on twitter?
Yes, let's settle for less depth. That surely won't bite us in the ass at all.
Understand what you're saying but now with Sanchez' hamstring issue against Palace we would have had one CB on the roster who was in his second league start.Think what's being said is that since we operate on a sell to buy model, we sell Toby and buy a midfielder considering we're strong in CB and weak in midfield, he's leaving next summer anyway, and we'd rather a midfielder worth 35-40m than one of the 15m price range that selling some of the deadwood would net us.

If we sell Alderweireld i don’t think we need to buy a replacement.
1 season ending injury to any one our cb and we are fucked. we already lack depth to compete in CL, i dont understand why would we sell him unless we couldnt afford him, especially if he wants to stay. 25m nowadays buys you nothing, but if we use that on toby its 3 years of his prime from a top class cb who knows our system inside out.
So if the front page is to be believed that he wants £150k a week then surely we should be looking at offering him that regardless to what has happened in the past.
150k is a pretty fair wage for someone of his quality and experience
It would also put us in charge of his future, so if we do want to sell in future we can decide where he goes because atm next summer he could end up anywhere including arsenal if he wants ( and obviously the clubs want him ).
Just seems the sensible thing to do imo
Wouldn’t touch him even if Utd paid us to take him.We currently have great balance at CB. 4 international centre backs, three who have been first choices for a significant period of time, with two of those at the peak of their powers. Then there is also Dier who can slot in easily if need be. However, should we sell any of these, a replacement is a must, particularly if it’s Toby or Jan due to their experience and leadership quality. In Toby’s case, it probably doesn’t need to be someone who’s quite as good because with Sanchez, Foyth and occasionally Dier we have several very good partners for Vertonghen, but it does need to be someone reliable and I’d say premier league proven.
Phil Jones would be my choice. Good age, not much left on the contract, English, could play with any of the others and could realistically make himself first choice, especially with Vertonghen finishing this season as a 32 year old.
