I agree Mahrez has been phenomanel for them and has played a massive part in their being at the top but Vardys goals have contributed even more.Don't forget when Mahrez was injured for a few weeks Vardy was still banging them in.
So I don't agree.
Lol. 19 goals against 15 is hardly a significant difference. Factor in Mahrez's 11 assists and you have a far higher contribution to their goals. Then think about what both contribute outside that and you get a clear winner.

Mahrez has been far more consistent than Vardy. Not even a debate, imo, about who has been more important/better this season

Although I realise I'm not helping in a thread about Toby

Following yet another masterclass in defending by Toby after the Bournemouth win, alderweireld is simply the best centre back I seen seen at Spurs in 40 years of watching them live. His technique in tackling, positional sense, mental steel, deceptive pace and Hoddle like distribution he is faultless and perfection. I've never enjoyed watching a defender so much.

I absolutely love watching him too. I have such confidence in him, it's crazy. At one potentially dangerous moment today, my heart rate didn't even rise as I just knew Toby would get there and clear it. It's a lovely feeling!

I know Kane gets and possibly deserves the most plaudits but I dont believe we'd be anywhere near the team weare without Alderweireld.
You really cant understate the importance and quality of the guy.
Our best signing in decades imo.

Still can't get over how good this fella is. in 30 odd years I've seen some decent centre backs, Mabbutt, Campbell and King but I'm tempted to say Toby is better than them all.

The Leicester season ticket holders I know, disagree, they consider Mahrez very much a highlights player

That's fair enough, as I'm going exclusively on the highlights. Whenever I've watched Leicester this season, which were the games against us and the Newcastle game, I haven't really been too impressed with either, although they've obviously had excellent seasons thus far

I'm finding it difficult not to say that Toby has been our best player this season

He won't win spurs player of the year as fans tend to go for goalscorers but Toby needs some serious recognition

We got to have a chant for him

Ledley King is the greatest centre back I have seen play. Honestly, he had everything.. but you all know that anyway!

Toby really does remind me of Ledley though and not just because they are both such great defenders. They have the same characteristics to their play. Both calm but dominant, rarely foul or dive in, fantastic at playing the ball out and most importantly have that knack of reading everything. The list goes on. Exceptional player.

Disagree that he won't win player of the year. Every Tottenham supporter I have spoken to recently has him as our player of the year so far, he has made a massive difference. I mean Spurs have the best defensive record in the Premiership after 31 games? That is just straight up UWOTM8

Player of the season no question.

Harry in the goals again now and is having another great season but Toby has been consistently exceptional all season.

The only bad half of football he's had the whole season was the first half away to Sunderland, and yes he gave the penalty away against Stoke, but every other minute of the season he's been absolutely sublime.

I think, pound for pound the signing of the season in the PL for sure. The fact that Wimmer has slotted in with such ease must in part be credited to Toby and the confidence he exudes. If there was one slight criticism it's that sometimes he makes me want to have his hair, but then I realise I couldn't pull it off. That makes me sad.

He truly is an outstanding player, he is so calm on the ball and reads the game magnificently. He is, by some distance, the best centre back in the league. It wouldn't surprise me if a couple of the real big boys, Real M and Barca, come in for him.

Only just turned 27 a few weeks ago too. He's worth his weight in gold. Oozes class. The 3 touch move against Bournemouth was f**king majestic. :) :) :)

Does anyone have a GIF or video of it? :)
