I doubt it.

£25m for a club to steal a march on their competitors and sign him straight away, is too tempting.

Plus, most of the big-boys would pay him want he wants as well as the transfer fee.

Still would love him to sign a new deal btw

Yeah they could offer doesn’t mean Toby will go. None of them would offer him the signing bonus he could get if he held out. Could you imagine the fee a Chinese club would give him if he was a free agent? It could possibly be in the 10s of millions.

I'd think he will want to run down his contract and leave on a free at the end of the season. No doubt he'd then get the huge wage and signing on fee he will want.

I hope he does stay as this summer we already need 5 players minimum and keeping as many regular starters to help the transition will be huge for us moving into next season. The £25m will not be such a big deal if it's the difference between CL qualification next season or not.

I'd be happy if he stayed another season and wish him the best when he does leave. I notice that nobody mentions jan, last season of his contract but nobody saying he's gone this summer?
Yes i know there is itk that poch and toby fell out. Doesn't seem to have effected his playing time this season though.

I seem to agree with most of the recent posts, in that I hope Toby runs down his contract and stays 1 more season.

Gives Sanchez and Foyth another season to establish themselves with both being still so young, and we can work out if Dier can become (wants to be) a decent CB.

Then, worst case scenario, if none of those 3 options fully work out, we have one more season to find a Toby replacement.

However, I am confident Sanchez and Foyth work out, but not 100% sure what happens with Dier.

Re Toby and ‘happy to stay’. I know the club want to shift him, and Poch too. Too much water under the bridge. If he refuses to be sold, I can’t see how it helps him. Very political

Sounds very complex but he’s been a model professional for us, especially this year. Thanks for sharing, Herc

Well, if he decides to see out his contract we'll just have to do what we did this season and play him. He's too good to be left out of the team.

Dont give a shit anymore, for long I've been prepared to see him going but if he stays and plays well then good. If he goes and we bring in someone good then excellent.

Running the contract down at his age is a dangerous game - it just takes one injury and it's game over for his career and earning potential!

If that's the case then fair enough. Personally I think we've been very fortunate to have him this year with the injuries to Sanchez and Vertonghen. Been a POTY contender for me. I'd have hoped that would have been enough for them to make amends.

That said I personally think Sanchez has a ton of potential (Foyth too) and needs games. Now is probably the time.

If it is to be Toby's last game let's hope he's signing off in style as a CL winner!

Very confusing from the outside

Seems like a good grounded guy, super committed, excellent whenever he plays, always positive on social media

It's all fairly common knowledge. They shook on a deal that Poch helped arrange, then he asked for more!

That can’t be it surely, there must be more to it than that. I know Poch is a man of principals but it seems a bit like cutting your nose off to spite your face, especially how Toby has played this season

ITK has alluded to much more than that. I cant remember which one it was but they made it sound like Toby had been terrible behind the scenes at one point. They wouldnt say much more - wish we knew the full story

If I remember correctly there was ITK suggesting Toby hacked Poch’s FIFA ultimate team and replaced it with multiple Saido Berahinos

Been watching their body language all season. There was not a hint of tension between them, they hugged like brothers after games Poch and Toby. Fair to say if there were some problems last season then they have reconciled.

hmmm personally i would love him to stay but i can absolutely understand if he leaves. truth is that a player of his calibre, in this day and age, should be commanding double his current salary.

i think if i was him, i will leave regardless.

if we win the CL, that means i've achieved the pinnacle of football with this team, time to secure the bag, the last big paycheck

if we dont, then i will go to a bonafide contender that will pay me, eg, bayern, juve, manc. these top clubs ( just like us) can contend every year, and also pay me.

The only reason i will stay is if we win, AND spurs decides to pay me what I'm worth.
Not double the alleged offer though. There are very few CBs earning more than that and possibly only one or two of them are in the PL. That £165k p/w is very much the top end of the going rate.
