Mourinho is petrified that Martial becomes his next KdB, Salah, Lukaku. I suspect Woodward knows Mourinho won’t be there long and doesn’t want to load the squad with 30 somethings and ship out their best young players. Hilarious that they want rid of a player but clearly have concerns about their manager’s judgement.
Nah, Mourinho doesn't care. Woodward doesn't want to as he can see what has happened in the past.

Yeah, it was defo floated around (maybe optimistically) in the early days. I think, and this is a guess, that the reported 150mil to spend may have included this inflated fee.

Think Dembele inflated fee was probably included too as well as ten mil here and there for fringe players.

That's the issue as if we only got 45m for Toby, 12m for Dembele and the rest had to loaned out cos no one wants them you're suddenly looking at having say 65m to spend on a DM (if Dier is seen as Toby cover), attacker (I'm assuming if we want Martial or Zaha it's an area of want) and a CM (Dembele replacement). The numbers don't add up and I'd rather window just closed tonight.

They gave arsenal Mikytarian in exchange for Sanchez, so they have previous - I wonder how hard the gooners had to push to get him included?

I imagine that is why we are no longer looking at CB replacements. They were clearly on the list at the start and seems to have been sacrificed now.

Think the plan A currently is Martial, Grealish, mystery CM in, Toby & Dembele out. If Rose goes either KWP covers or we try for Shaw (1 year left).

Think plan A was probably get Zaha for 45m plus massive add ons and Grealish on the cheap. Then rinse Utd which would pay for most of those two fees. Then bring in a DM or CB with whatever money we could raise from Dembele and fringe players. The budget is all over the place now though and I'd be astonished if we all look at squad and think it's been a fairly good window.

Agreed, its not really the thread for it so will stick my opinion in a spoiler.
I believe the club were looking for 70 for Toby, 20-30 for Moussa and hoping for 30-40 for Janssen, Nkoudou, Llorente, Sissoko. With the initial price of De Ligt at 50, that leaves 70-80 for a winger and mid, we may even have stretched to a 20mil net spend. Unfortunately the centre half prices went the other way and no bids came in, leaving us with toby plus about 20, hence the shortened list of targets

It does seem incredibly unlikely.

Already an admission we'll let Toby go with no new CB and wouldn't surprise me if we end up with KWP/Aurier as second left back either (especially hope I'm wrong on this one).

I suspect Martial will blow up in our face, and unless Zaha is still on the market at that point, think we'll stick with the attacking options we have + Grealish (which won't be a disaster despite Poch clearly wanting more).

CM/DM is gonna have to be a cracking player.

Cards saying that Levy is fully aware of the fans unrest, I mean how could you not be. Maybe the fan pressure will keep him from doing this deal without Martial.

I've softened slightly, if he can get us a decent winger (zaha) with the money just get grealish and a dm like diawara through the door then I don't need martial. Sessegnon and De ligt next season and then the treble.

This was an afterthought for me, Martial is clearly rated higher financially than Alderweireld, however, if Rose is rated higher than Shaw, could balance the deal a bit more back towards where we'd be comfortable. Assuming Utd would still want Rose, since we know Mourinho doesn't really rate Shaw.

To be fair Mkhi is getting on and was more likely to wane than improve. Already talk of him going back to Dortmund after 6 months. Plus Sanchez was the clear A side in the deal.

Martial could still become a world star.

A double swap would be insane if it actually happened but I'd imagine the figures would balance off and I'd imagine both managers would be berry happy.

Everyone has told us Zaha is dead and that was with the expectation that Toby was going to be sold, Diawara ain't happening.

I honestly don't think he will be bothered about fan unrest. He had better be bothered about Poch unrest though.

Levy needs to deliver Martial. We must must have one big signing going into new stadium.

Well interestingly I went back and read the quotes from when we signed hugo from Lyon and they said that Levy negotiated with them a month before the deadline then nothing for a few weeks then picked up the phone with a reduced offer so i've decided to hope this is whats going on with Zaha.

You won't stay softened for long if you're expecting us to spend what £120m next week with probably only £60m coming back in.
