Did this today after being sent an email by the club. I was torn between him and Lloris. No doubt Dele will get it

I didn't get an email. Does it just go to season ticket holders or members too?

Edit: just seen it and voted Toby

He has played every minute for us. It's amazing just how consistently brilliant he has been. It's just a shame for him that defenders don't really get the credit (certainly amongst the younger hotspur members)

Voted for him. A lot of strong contenders but he hasn't missed any matches through injury or suspension and done a lot to massively improve our number of goals conceded.

Voted for him too. How he isn't nominated for PFA player of the year is beyond belief.

Gosh there were some massively incorrect opinions in the first few pages

Was he that avg and slow at Southampton or has Dier, Verts and Lloris all supported Toby in forming one rock like unit

Has he massively improved?

Or do people commenting just not know anything about football?!

It's the last option.

Not really. Whilst there's no denying he has been incredibly solid for us this season and will rightly be a contender for Spurs player of the year. It is still conceivable that he isn't selected. Football awards are always dominated by positions that can have highlight reels such as goal scorers or goal keepers. Hence why 5/6 of the list are attacking midfielders or forwards and the sixth person is one of the most heralded midfielders this year, Kante. There are strong arguements for why each of those 6 deserve to be nominated. Personally I think De Gea would have been selected ahead of Toby anyway.

I think it's best when you look at it like this:

Player - Transfer Fee:

Marcos Rojo - £16m
Gabriel - £11.2m
Dejan Lovren - £20m
Nicolas Otamendi - £28.5
Eliquiam Mangala - £32m

Toby Alderweireld - £11.5m

Ok, so read the first page of this thread and people had doubts? Well how did that work out lads? ;)
I get panned plenty for my doubts, but as they say, "swings and roundabouts".

I also said we should target Mahrez because I thought he looked really good last year and I got laughed off and people said he wasn't good enough to be our backup.

There isn't a person here who hasn't said something stupid once or twice (some seem to hit that number each day).

Indeed. I said Mahrez didn't have good enough end product last season. Just made me even more convinced that we need to give all players that are new to a league time.

Not getting too much of a boner from this guy. Put Fazio in a team that defends in a low block with Schneiderlin and Wanyama in front of him, and he'd probably look pretty impressive.

(disclaimer: I think Fazio has been pretty decent even in our setup.)

...but what the fuck do I know?

I'm currently sporting a furious hard-on, and it's all down to Alderweireld.

That's kinda my point, it shouldn't be dominated by attacking players, defenders are just important and have just as much impact on a game as attackers, so I still think he should be atleast nominated.
