I don’t think we all expect every striker to be Kane levels but to be fair over the last 25 years we’ve had:
Kane
Son
Defoe
Crouch
Keane
Pav
Berba
Sheringham
Klinsmann

IMO I’d take all of the above over Richy, so we’ve gone from truely world class in Kane and Son to a little underwhelming in Richy. I’d say most fans would be fairly happy with something more in the middle.

I’d like to think Werner could be that guy. He’s faster and more exciting than Richy and peak Werner was absolutely streets ahead of peak Richy, just depends how close to peak Werner we can get.
And in between all the names you've mentioned, add in all the failures that have come and gone in that time.
Like Postiga, Janssen, Soldado, Saha, Bent, Rasziack (I know I've spelled that wrong but it's late), that lad we got in loan when Berbs left.
If you're going back to Klinsmann, we've probably got to include Armstrong, Iverson and Rebrov too.
And I don't think Pav was a great striker, as much as we all wanted him to be and he did score some great goals, he just didn't score enough of them.

Edit...Ooh, can't believe you forgot old velcro chest himself, Kanoute!

Weirdly on board with this, coming so far out of left-field as it has. Didn't expect anyone up top really so any numbers welcome, but at least this is someone that has previously been electric in the not so distant past before Chelsea fucked him up. You see the way that some of ours have talked about playing under Ange being everything that they want from football, and it doesn't hurt to wonder if he could click in the right environment. Low option also if he does. If nothing else he is fast as fuck and can absolutely leather a ball, which, as much as I support the bloke, you don't get from Richarlson, so an option off of the bench up top that is more prepared for a push for CL places than Dane is going to be.

Without wishing to be controversial and without wanting to have a pop at Richarlison I think it may not be a problem for a lot longer.
I'm really beginning to feel that Richarlison may be moved on in the summer.
Sadly confidence seems to drain from Richy quickly. He really should have done so much better with the chances he had versus Burnley, we complain about lack of creativity but they were great chances and scuffed them would be the best description.

He's just really weak on his left foot

He will miss a few sitters but score the winning goal. Some fans will moan about the missed ones though.
Our fans will just moan but if he comes off the bench at the bridge to score the winner at the shed end it will be worth it to listen to the moaning!!

If it was Jan 30 this move might really strike me as a worrying return to Levy-ish opportunism. This early in the window, signing a non-HG player means Ange has to be fully on board - if he wasn’t, we’d let it run for a few weeks and see if anything else popped up. I’ve got a few reservations about the player but if Ange is excited and the fee is zero, it’s hard not to take at least a hopeful attitude.

I wonder why you can't add Bryan Gils name and number to your shirt on the spurs shop. There's been no links for him to move away yet this window has there? Unless my phones just glitched out this time I've looked.....or they've banned Bryan's shirts to be shipped to South East Asia 😂😭 poor sod

They only do Bryan’s shirt in kids sizes

We've been massively spoilt in the last 8 years having 2 top finishers in Kane and Son that now anyone who doesn't hit the target or whip a shot into the top corner every other shot seems shit and "Can't hit a barn door"

The only player you can replace Harry Kane with is Harry Kane, he's jut that good. Even last year half the fans on here were saying Sonny was "Done" can't run anymore etc etc. He's already scored more this year than last year.

Richarlison isn't the best finisher by all means but he brings alot to the team in terms or pressing and being a physical pain in the arse, plus his aerial ability that you don't notice until he's not in the team.

Werner will be similar, he may not be the unreal finisher in the box, but his pace, dribbling, being two footed will be invaluable with how we play, I think he'll be a great option with how we play.

Time will tell but give the guy a bloody chance first.
Just to add to this, when the Evertons and Brightons of the world have pressed us high and caused us problems, do you really think they'll do the same with a front line of Werner, Son and Johnson.

Especially if we have the likes of Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison in midfield. We will force teams onto the back foot. They won't dare push up to with that pace around.

It will give us more room to dominate games. And when they sit back, we have the likes of Richarlison and Veliz with Kulusevski and Maddison pinging in crosses.

It's easy to see why Ange is interested.

Ange also uses the bench a lot in the last 30 minutes of games, having a fresh Werner coming on for Richarlison (example) would surely be a plus.

We currently have Richarlison, Kulusevski and Johnson. That's not enough and we need another striker, he's flexible, he has PL experience, pace and he's coming on loan first.

People will state Danjuma, but Conte was against the signing and as such hardly played. Werner will get game time. Could be a very astute signing.

Could be a brilliant bit of business. Look at salah at Chelsea before he went to Liverpool. I remember before Chelsea Werner was one to watch, so let’s see what big Ange can do with him.

I really like this move it’s low risk/high reward. He has all the attributes to flourish in this system either as a LW or through the middle, and I think Ange will really bring the best out of him. If it doesn’t work out, so what? But if he clicks…

It's worth a punt, but we need someone clinical. Hopefully Werner can find some old form and finishing. Richarlison is ok but doesn't really cut it as a killer in front of goal. And Johnson is coming along g nicely, but quite profligate. Werner on a loan with an option to buy is decent, but he needs far sharper finishing than we saw in his PL career to date. He missed several gaping chances and if he cuts out the howlers he'll have decent output.

Not going to lie. Really excited about what Timo will bring.
The last time he played in a similar style he scored for fun.
He has all the ability to turn it on for us.
Bring it on Timo!

Objectively his finishing has been poor.

But regardless, I’m optimistic. He was shit hot before Chelsea. No downside, a lot of upside for us.

By the sounds of it he should be in the squad for man utd.

This signing was a hell of a surprise and so early on as well but it has so many positives to it. He's played in the league so knows the pace of it, he knows London and can settle in quickly, he can play across the front 3, he wants to play lots and do well so he can get in the Germany squad for the euros.

I'm very optimistic for this.

We're just going to have to get used to not having one of the worlds generational talents playing as striker for us.

Pretty much everyone we get in will fall short of that level. The good news is that it's a team game and the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts, as we're already seeing under Ange.

Yeah this is it.

And also, its possible Werner could be a revelation under Agne.

He'll get fucking bundle of chances through his pace and movement and the way we play(many more than Richarlison) so the law of averages dictates he gets goals.

Now imagine Agne gets his confidence up and he hits the ground running. Could be deadly.
