If he gets back to pre Chelsea form, that option to buy range would be a steal.

Still only 27.

I thought he was pretty good at Chelsea apart from his finishing which was awful. If he can get an early goal for us and get some confidence he could be a great signing.

My only real concern with this deal is the later temptation to take a cheap pre agreed option rather than use the summer to get an ambitious signing.

I hope the default position is that this is a loan. (And Danjuma last season gives me hope that this is indeed the case)

We are still a team with a limited budget - I think we are at our best recruiting-wise when we find the hidden gems just below the surface, instead of going for the big big money signings.

This has that kind of feel.

ETA - Danjuma always felt like just a "cheap" body, while this feels like a player than Ange wants.

We need experienced attacking options especially with son away .

Werner offers that and knows all about the premier league . It’s a no brainer deal he can play central or from the left .
With Soloman due back anytime these two are far better options than Scarlett and Gil. That was just depressing those two and Richarlison , as a front 3 , finishing the Burnley game

Timo does strike some similarities to what Ange had in Kyogo at Celtic. Pacey, shorter ST with good movement.

Hope Timo can get a few goals in the beginning here, think a confident player could earn a move here.

I’m thinking he’s gonna be spurs new cb. He’s good in the air, fast, can tackle and can’t shoot for shit

If Werner’s motivation is to play to make the Euros, one must imagine he would have asked how often he was likely to be starting. And received an answer he was happy with?

I get that and I'm fine with it per se - I just think that if there was to be just one 'big ambitious' signing for us this summer, it should be for a player in the front 3. Especially if GLC is being kept.

My guess is we’ll sign a proper forward in the summer anyway and the decision may end up being Werner or Richarlison as the 5th guy with Son, Deki, New, Johnson.

Honestly - when you watch us play - I think most attacking players would love to play in this system.

I am pretty sure he was promised an opportunity to compete for a starting spot, but was not guaranteed anything.

We barely have any players available he wouldn’t have needed too much assurance lol

Given Jan window is notoriously hard to get anything done, this is an intelligent piece of business. Low risk, potentially high reward. We have all seen him play, and if we base what he will be asked to do under Ange, then the best comparison is to how her performed under JN.

HIs confidence isn’t great, I would imagine. But it’s a fresh start. No one is expecting him to be a superstar. But he provides depth across the front four. He is fast. He presses hard.

Gives us a group of forwards for the remainder of the season consisting of: Timo, Son, Solomon, Richy, Deki, Johnson and Veliz (once fit). Assuming Gil will leave on loan this window.

Would put him straight on penalty duties, at least until Son comes back. Has taken 21 pens in his career and scored 17 (81%) according to transfermarkt.

Imo Werner in would push Son back centrally as Werner is far better than Richy, Gil, and Sess on the left. Likely better than Brennan & Solomon there as well.

Mega interesting move out of nowhere and he feels tailor-made for Ange's football

I have been waiting for this day since 2015 where we all desperately wanted Werner but the club didn't want to pay up so we signed Clinton N'Jie instead.
