I wonder if we might sign one of these teenage forwards linked as well but keep them at their club on loan. Might explain getting Werner on loan until they arrive in the summer.
Would be the ideal solution. Get Nusa or Bargy (or both) and keep them on loan this season.

Timo the stopgap for depth this season. And we absolutely need something. Our attack is shocking without Son. We’re bringing on Bryan Gil and Dane Scarlett right now to spell Richarlison.

Timo with all his flaws is a vastly superior player to at least 2 of those guys (and possibly three). On a no risk 6 month deal that’s good biz for January.

Nailed on to be the answer to a trivia question about the 23/24 Prem title winning Spurs side.

Scores in Jan, does his hammy, son returns and we never see him suit up again.

This month I'm hoping for a quality centre back and one or two young players.

A half season loan on a player who could be desperate to prove himself is a potentially good signing in my view.
Tbf if we bought someone like Nusa or Soulé and sent them out on loan for the rest of the season then Werner on loan would be much more appealing. I guess also Werner will also give more opportunities to Solomon and Gil to prove themselves. Will just have to see how the window plays out. Werner certainly seems like a Lange move rather than a Fab one.

Anyone capable of scoring 34 goals in a season has talent so let’s stop the talk about him being a poor player. He’s versatile, quick and experienced so on a 6 month loan with an option that’s good business. Personally see his link up play as an upgrade on Richy who has done ok but doesn’t quite seem the right fit for our style of play.

For as bad a finisher as Timo is, I think I still like him through on goal with the ball at his left foot better than Richarlison.

Well it's a risk and I hope this doesn't impact the younger and more exciting prospects we were apparently targeting,

It's not even a question of his failing at Chelsea, I could happily overlook that if it wasn't for the fact that he has probably gotten worse since then

Yes, he has similar attributes to Son off the left, but Son's greatest strength is his finishing, which is probably Werner's weakest point.

On the other hand, there did use to be a real player there, and for a six month loan this could be a really smart move for a January window.

Low risk move that adds depth, experience and some versatility. Sure, he’s not the most flashy signing now, but maybe we see Werner as the stopgap and still gives us flexibility to sign and loan back Nusa?

For me it’s very much a stop gap signing. The issue for me is how inconsistent he is especially in front of goal and he often completely drifts out of games. He’s never been a clinical finisher throughout his career and considering his age im not sure that’s ever going to change.

Watching the game last night as an answer to our problems in attack i don’t see Werner being it. At all. That being said with Veliz now being out I can see the benefit of bringing him in as a back up CF. I’ve never liked him on the wing tho and hope we don’t play him there, he reminds me of a faster Richy when played out wide. He’s a limited player but he is fast and presses well.

As our only attacking addition im underwhelmed in truth and there is certainly an air of Danjuma to the move especially given he looked like going to Utd. But having thought about it I can understand the logic if none of our targets are available until summer then in general bringing in a stop gap makes sense. I do wonder if Veliz hadn’t of got injured if Jota would have been the move we would have made.

Essentially I don’t think he brings anything we don’t already have to the table but if money is limited and we ether can’t afford our targets or our targets aren’t available now then a stop gap is logical.

There was a point pre Chelsea that I thought he looked like an intriguing prospect so I’m just going to hold onto that and hope Ange works some magic but I think the same issues with our attack will persist whether he joins or not.

Thing is though is that Danjuma probably wouldn't be thought of in the same vein if he came in under Ange, so I don't think a similar type of signing should always be labelled as a disappointing one. I do think there is a level we should be aspiring to for that front line though in the long term and with the summer incomings in concern, but for now someone who has at least shown a high level in the past is interesting when you consider that Ange wants and has a vision for them.

I think you could argue that this type of signing is more worth taking a risk on than a really young prospect at this very moment in time as we don't need another Johnson/Solomon right now, but someone who is more renowned for trying to find the back of the net.

One thing I will say though is that I understand the argument of problems possibly still occurring in that front line, but I do like the idea of what he could maybe provide in conjunction with the return of Maddison.

Personally I have been pleasantly surprised by Richy's hold up play. And his layoffs and assists. And goals. A different player since returning from his injury. Warner is imo not as good, but my Chelsea supporting kids always liked him. Fingers crossed if this happens, Timo does the business for us. I do agree I'd far rather see him coming off the bench than Gil. And I think he's better than Johnson.

I thought he was unlucky at Chelsea, you could see the ability.

The pressure mounted and it got to him.

But he's quick (quicker than Richy) and direct and if Ange can work some magic it could prove an exceptional bit of business.

Big yes from me.

Crazy how this came from absolutely nowhere?! Don't think there was even a sniff of a rumour.

I was gutted when he went to Chelsea - was in deadly form until the CFC striker curse hit.

Hopefully he's coming to us for a few months with a point to prove. 🙏

His record pre Chelsea was impressive.

My only worry is being wasteful in front of goal. We have enough like that.

But you never know if his confidence returns, his pace means he will likely get a lot of chances, given the way we play under Ange

Would agree on Richy being good on counter attacks, holding off defenders and slipping Sonny away particularly but not so much when we are trying to break down defences camped in their box and we need that quick one touch interplay but as you say great to have both options
