I was pointing towards the fact that he's got a history of "can't be arsed".

Benny was seldom different. Lots of talent, but wasn't massively bothered about the sport.

you simply don't become a top tier athlete by not being arsed. particularly not one that plays for france.

I'd say that it's a paradoxical statement. You clearly can become a top tier athlete by not being arsed.

He's not the first athlete to exit the womb with natural talents, but a reluctance to become an athlete. It would be a different story if footballers were paid normal salaries, but for a lot of these guys there's too much money available to not get into it.

You appear to be implying a conspiracy, or are in denial over the issue that almost every manager he's played under has made a point of highlighting.

Just read Dragons info from earlier this afternoon. Whoever did the scouting and back ground checks on this waste of money should be sacked if they are still in anyway connected to the club. If the checks on him were not done sufficiently that is a disgrace.

Agreed. I wonder how much old school scouting goes on these days though, is it more stat based?
Grealish for example seems to have off field concerns to me but it didn't seem to bother city.

He’s not the first and he won’t be the last player to not be suited to the premier league. No one knows what is really going on behind the scenes, I am sure he is physically able to play and not as unfit as is being made out. Players of the calibre of Veron have come to England and looked nowhere near the level of how they looked before.

It is a massive shame as he has attributes that are exactly what our team needs but the intensity of the PL is just not for him.

fwiw the name I keep coming back to is Jonathan de Guzman - used to play for Swansea. you can read the full thread about it here, but to summarise the player has a problem, the club find that inconvenient, and they make his life hell because they just presume he's faking it. to me, something like this (not as severe as a hernia but something else) makes much more sense than "professional athlete forgets how to be athletic". do you know how much effort it takes to be an athlete at any level, let alone the Premier League?

it's just baffling that a lot of blokes i see who can barely get their replica kit over their belly are so sure the problem is "he can't be arsed".
I totally get what you mean and as fans we tend to treat these players like robots who don't have real life issues .

But I canr imagine a billion pound company known across the world isn't doing everything they can to make their 100 million pound asset work - including getting help if he needs it

According to AG it's a bit of a cycle.

He has god given talent, plays well a few times, buys into his own hype, standards drop, throws a strop, wants to leave, club work hard to motivate him, rinse and repeat. He sees the club as a rung on his career ladder but doesn't seem to understand you can't get by on talent alone.

Why are some standing up for this clown. Almost every ITK has said it is all down to him not being bothered, believing he is better than us, thinking he can show up unfit and basically could not give 2 f##ks. If you dont believe them then have a go with your own 2 eyes, see how many times he has finished 90 mins, see how he turned out in his first game for us looking 2 stone overweight, watching him dawdling back instead of sprinting. Yes he may have the talent but it is worth f##k all without the application, sooner he goes the better and he can take whoever scouted and recommended him with him.

There's no point swapping Tanguy for a Kessie who only has a year on his contract or an Aouar who is available for €25m. There's less risk in keeping him for the year, trying to get a tune out of him again (he was pretty good for a while under Mourinho) and then re-evaluating the situation next season when clubs have recovered some Covid losses.

I definitely feel Nuno not including him and making it so public is him laying down the gauntlet to TN. With his skillset he'd be in our best XI if he had the levels of fitness we expect from a Premier League player.

It's all on you, Monsieur Ndombele.

It’s probably because “can’t be arsed” is the reason why we can barely get our kit over our belly.

seriously though, the accusations of not having the right mentality or working hard enough had been following tanguy since his youth team days when he was released due to concerns over his commitment. Whatever problem he had, it’s in his head. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.th...ele-complete-midfielder-focus-spurs-tottenham
