That’s a massive call by Postecoglou if true. Because if it goes belly up that’s a very expensive mistake to make.

I am skeptical that anyone could get a tune out of this guy, but if somehow he does, then the pay off will also be huge.

Kind of awesome that he backs himself to coax something out of him though.

I mean I’m glutton for punishment but if he thinks he can get a tune out of him I’m secretly a touch excited 😆

If you actually read the article, then it’s literally the best case scenario so no one should be complaining🙌

While there were ‘few chances’ of seeing Ndombélé in a Tottenham shirt a few weeks ago, the arrival of Ange Postecoglou has changed matters quite a lot.

It’s said the ex-Celtic manager is a ‘long time admirer’ of the midfielder, and he ‘intends to leave a space’ in his 4-3-3 formation for the player if he ‘confirms this good impression in the pre-season games’.

With a contract until 2025, there’s little to lose here, as a surge under Postecoglou could finally justify the price Tottenham initially paid for him (€60m).

However, if he fails to impress, ‘there will be opportunities in Europe’, but also elsewhere, as his profile ‘interests the Saudi market’.

So Ange wants to give him a chance on the preseason tour, and if he’s giving full effort then happy days!

If he’s deemed to not be good enough though then he will be sold, and more importantly that there’s plenty possible buyers across Europe and in Saudi.

Win-Win

Like many on here, i've disliked him for his poor attitude and for effectively wasting his huge talent (albeit earning himself a fortune). Then this morning i see a video on YouTube with all his best bits from his loan at Napoli, i watch it and end up thinking, yeah maybe Ange can get something out of him !

Massive odds against him changing his ways and getting a role in the team again but those bloody drag backs and back heels suck me in every time !!!

Sorry @BorjeSpurs , for some reason i'd missed you posting the video i was talking about !

Why? We're already going to make a massive loss on him it can't be much worse.
He’s on something like 200k a week and has two years left on his contract. Selling him now is the sensible move given his track record.

But if Postecoglou wants to take the gamble we should probably back him.

I meant Ange was all about "buy-in", sorry.

Lo Celso was known for being a bit aloof and distant off the pitch so yeah, maybe that's a red flag for a manager like Ange. Generally felt like he always put in a shift when he played and wasn't afraid to get stuck in, though.
That would be a bit ironic given that it is widely acknowledged that Ange himself is quite aloof from
His players away from the pitch.

would be surprised if Ndombele is seen as a player that could be valuable but Lo Celso isn’t.

I can far more easily see Gio fitting into an Ange team.

Tanguy for his faults has in his locker what football for me is all about (magic) so i can't say i am at all disappointed Ange wants to give him a crack.

not that i personally think it will work out but i'm glad we are giving it a go. Sometimes a player and a manage just click
