Still better than all our available CMs. Will never get this hate he inspires.
Better technically for sure but that video is everything that was wrong with him at spurs. Half arsed chasing back and no desire.

Shame as he is a really nice footballer

People decided on him long, long before that. And given the toxicity our fanbase has shown in recent years I can't really say I blame him. I think I just find the hate to be overkill at this point.
Not really hate anymore is it? He's nothing to most fans anymore.
Was gonna waffle on about why but its been done to death and if you seriously can't understand fans attitudes towards him then you never will.
Each to his own though :)

Fans will hate a player who can’t be arsed to get fit. Can’t be arsed to run. Can’t be arsed to help his teammates. He’s a disgrace and our record signing.

I said it yesterday in the UCL chat but I thought he played alright, just can never see him being an important cog in a title or UCL challenging side. I could definitely be proven wrong but he seems somewhere in between an Eriksen and a Dembele

Can he consistently provide assists/goals as a #10 throughout a whole year?
Can he consistently provide defensive workrate and press resistance in a deeper position?

I think he goes on spurts where he will chip in with goals/assists but then have a few stinkers. Same in a deeper position, there are matches where he's great, but his lack of defensive effort will show in the deeper positions.

Leao has that special kind of pace that is absolutely effortless. If we were ambitious he’d be our Son replacement
He's destined for bigger than Spurs unforunately. We've got no shot regardless of how much money we put on the table.

He's got so much skill to his game I would've thought you just forgive the lack of defensiveness, put him behind Kane free-role style and just tell him to play with freedom - Redknapp style. God knows we've got enough players in the team that can sit behind him and afford him to not track back 100% of the time (Hojbjerg, Skipp, Sarr, Bentancur - hell all of our midfielders are like this!). Focus on him moving the ball forward which we can do with ease...

The ship has sailed but I would've have liked to have seen this tried for a bit of entertainment :D

he can only be used as a 10, like Sigurdsson

Mourinho tried this if I'm remembering correctly. The issue is he really wasn't effective enough as a 10 either, because he didn't have the ability to make space and get on the ball to influence the game.

He was actually playing his best football at Lyon as a deep playmaker, getting the ball from the CBs and looking forward early, as they didn't close him down.

As you say the ship has long gone on him, and I think his time in Italy is showing he'll never be up to the standard required fitness wise for the PL.

Doesn’t he have an obligation anyway? Something to do with Napoli qualifying for CL next season?

Maybe not an important cog but he's part of a Napoli squad that is gonna win their league for the 1st time in ages & got to 1/4 final in CL

We're still gonna have to take a big hit on him tho!
