Jack Pitt Brook on the view from the lane podcast yesterday said that Ndombele has expectations of a move to Madrid, barca or Bayern and that the reason to get him training on his own was to make him realise that he's not wanted in the hope that he will lower his expectations for who he is willing to go to.
You bring him and his agent into the office while you call all 3 of those teams and make them listen while they all say he's not good enough/hasn't shown enough application.

Ally Gold has said similar over the years where Tanguy genuinely believes he should be at an elite level club.. and then does absolutely fuck all to show he deserves that.

If this is true then the man's utterly delusional.

I really fear that he has no interest in going on loan to play himself back into form (he prob thinks he’s doing well) or get his career going again. He probably wants to pickup his pay check and chill. I think the risk that players feel this way seems to be getting higher and higher. I think players running down their contracts might become the norm. No idea why significant performance related bonuses aren’t used more.

I agree and added to that it seems like he doesn't even want to play football.

A player might not want to be at their specific club, but the chances are that they still love the game of football and are friendly with their team-mates. So they at least have a good kickabout every Saturday afternoon...I mean they're getting paid for it too!

But Tanguy doesn't seem to love the game or respect any of his colleagues.

I genuinely believe we're at a point now where players like Jonjo Shelvey, Moussa Sissoko and Mark Noble are much better players than Ndombele, for the simple fact that they're more useful to a coach.

Anyway, I can see this playing out in one of two ways; he sees out the rest of his contract at Spurs or he goes to a club in Turkey, Russia or Greece.

Shocking signing. Unbelievable Levy/transfer committee sanctioned this purchase. The fee should be deducted from their wages!

Can't blame Ndombele really because by the sound of it, he's always been a lazy ****. He is what he is.

TN sounds absolutely deluded doesn't he.

He seems to have been for a while. That’s not the first time we’ve heard that mentioned.

Juventus want a central midfielder yet there’s been no links with them. Maybe we don’t want him to go there because it will mean the scum will get Arthur?

Lots of signings were requested by Poch that he didn't get. Why did the geniuses in our transfer committee decide this was the one to give him?
Who cares?!
Both the so called commitee and Poch together made the decision. It hasn't worked, perhaps because Poch is no longer here, perhaps solely due to TN. The guy needs to move, end of. Not sure we need to point fingers.

All clubs make "mistakes" with recruitment. It's not as if THFC is the only club to have spent a lot of money on a player that didn't work.

Completely. He isnt fit to lace the likes of Modric's boots. Luka also works harder and would out run him, despite being 36.
Someone just needs to get brutal with this bloke and tell him his current effort makes him a championship player at best.Put him in the u23s and dont even pick him there until he matches the effort of the kids like nile john and devine who are desperate to be pros. Sit him down and make him watch what modric and bale did with us to get to madrid then show him what he has done. the players at this club that have gone on to those mega clubs have done so by putting in 100% effort and working harder than anyone else in training. This world gives you nothing for free Tanguy and if you stand still plenty will overtake you.

I remember when we signed him and GLC, I thought we had transformed our midfield into one of the world's best.

In reality we have got nothing to show for it (GLC might come good if he can stay fit). Just goes to show spending big money doesn't equate to big success.

Always a risk of course, but unlike the super rich clubs paying £90m+ for severely misfiring talent really hits us hard.

Meh, transfers go wrong. At the time people on here were very excited, he was one of the most exciting players around and their were lots of positive signs to suggest he would be a success here. It looks like it hasn't worked, but that doesn't mean it was out of a bad decision. Ultimately, there is always risk involved in signings. It didn't go well. We move on.

The bigger issue wasn't signing Ndombele it was failing to refresh the squad earlier which meant we have allowed the squad to stagnate rather than develop. This meant we couldn't really afford for signings to not work. That is a problem.

A well run squad should be able to continue well even when signings go wrong.

A good example is the mid-00s Chelsea team. They signed a lot of flops. I'm thinking Kezman, Mutu, Wright Phillips, Maniche, Crespo and so many full backs I'm not even going to begin to name. But because you had a functional core, no Biggie. By constantly refreshing that core, and ability to shift needs window to window you can mitigate stagnation even when players flop.
