If we don't get him now we won't get him at all.

There are plenty of other clubs interested including Liverpool.

German clubs will be queuing up.
Depends. Liverpool won't pay 40m either, Fulham will realise that soon. German clubs certainly won't.

We've been told he prefers us over other targets, so all we need to do is convince him we really want him but need to wait for Fulham to drop the price, if they don't hold tight 6 months. It's a risk but I imagine we can keep regular contact.

6 months is a long time for other clubs to change his mind.

I'm sure we were told that Barkley would wait 6 months for us too.

That said, I do believe we will have both this and GLC tied up over the next few gays.

Barcelona just bought Firpo for €23 + 2M, and Fulham wants 30, or even ₤40m? We're living in an alternative universe

I think it is very unfair to expect a 19 year old to let his contract run down in the hope of getting him on a free in a year's time.

Who's to say he won't have a career ending injury between now and the end of his current contract?

If his adviser is doing his job properly he will not allow that situation to occur. If a transfer to another club doesn't happen this transfer window his agent has to negotiate a new deal with Fulham to secure his future.

Firpo leaving means more income for Betis :nailbiting:
Didn't even think about that. Thanks for reminding me.

Sensible thing would have been to have had a different LWB in mind as an option. Like Grimaldo, perhaps. Could have moved on ages ago.

We can’t exactly go out and spend serious money on an established LB until we shift Rose. We’re not going to go into the season with 3 senior LBs. I’m sure if Rose gets his moves you’ll start seeing links to Lbs, if Sess looks like its not happening.

Sess makes sense irrespective of what happens with Danny. He’s young enough to be okay not playing every game ,and he’s versatile enough to play further up the field. We’ve clearly been after him for years, but I don’t think him signing is going to make a massive difference to our season. Its a long term move. I can just as easily him running down his contract and coming either next summer or in a January in a Holtby style move.

But are any of them good enough to improve us? Being honest who should we have got rid of in favour of them? I take your point to a certain extent but ultimately I am not sure we miss any of them.

Barkley, Grealish, Maddison, Brooks would all improve us.

Aarons and James are more unknown quantities but things are looking good for both of them.

Can’t help thinking back to jj’s comment when sessegnon got injured playing for the under 21s last month. “We could of done without that”, makes me think the injury really has had a massive effect on this deal and when it gets done. He’s still injured unless I’m mistaken.

Son, Lucas, Dele, Eriksen, Lamela are all far better. So you have to question whether we'd need one more in numbers.
Their fitness obviously more reliable than Lamela.

Well we had all of those last season and still suffered due to injuries/fatigue/international duty. Sessegnon will always get minutes because he can play LB or LM. Added to the fact that he's homegrown and that Danny Rose is not getting any younger, it makes sense to bring him in this season
