Currently 7 months post op myself and had a set back when returning to running. Obviously I've not got a full medical team monitoring me every day, but the thought of going back to full contact sport so soon scares the shit out of me.
That's one of the biggest issues with an injury of this nature. It's the psychological effect it has on the brain. You have it in the back of your mind that you don't want to do the same.

I remember when i did my second acl that during the rehab they tried to get me hopping. It's hard to explain but my brain refused to let my feet leave the ground. I spent hours doing the motion until eventually i got a few centimetres off the ground. Mentally it can be quite tough.

Yeah exactly this. I read a fair bit into it and physiologically there’s no reason you shouldn’t reach the same level as long as the injury happens at a good age, but as you alluded to. Some players just never trust their body again which is the biggest barrier.

Although it is encouraging to see Bentancur doing some ball work, it looked like light ball work.
Striking over a distance and twisting and turning will be the bigger indicators of a more imminent return.
He could be back in weeks, could be back in months. There is no way of knowing.
He will be back when he is medically ready (is what I would hope) or when our medical team think he is ready (more likely)

It is likely to be a reasonably significant period of time before he fully trusts his knee and plays at 100%
Maybe but when i did mine they started slowly and moved onto cycling and then run and then cutting. Only then did i do ball work. So it could be that he's been doing twisting and turning already.

You're right but elite athletes have access to all the best specialists in the world. No doubt he will be getting psychological expertise as well. Obviously it's very much down to the individual but there's a great chance he will get through those barriers.

I had treatment from Kevin Lidlow (https://www.aichillmedical.com/kevin-lidlow)* who both Ledley King and Tim Sherwood attribute to extending their careers. His help was fantastic in all aspects so im sure Rodrigo is in the best hands possible.

* Even Prince Harry gave him a bigup https://www.newsweek.com/prince-har...ow-chiropractor-therapists-book-spare-1773510

Wasn’t a dig at you at all mate and didn’t mean it to come across that way. More me just agreeing with what you’re saying from all I’d read

Can't think of a better player to play that 8 role, Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison is technically amazing.

People complaining have a short memory, we have a fantastic midfield and good options off the bench, the same up top. If we can up our defence to that standard we will be winning stuff soon.

Agree on this, I’ve no interest in signing a new midfielder, we need the thin it out if anything

Our season dropped off the Cliff as soon as this guy got injured. Unbelievable player on his day. Alongside Bissouma, Maddison, gio. We’ve got good options again!

Well, there were well-documented other factors as well, but I agree with the point completely: he is a crucial player for us.

Looking forward to Lolo, Cuti, Deki and Madders linking up this season :woot:

(Yeah, I'm never going to get used to calling him Lolo.)
Don't forget Solo, lol. (Said as sollo, not solo of course)

That is not just options, that is a world class midfield 3. With Sarr, Lo Celso, Skipp as back up.
