I think some people bought into the twitter nonsense that the two we were signing were Juve rejects and ignored the fact that they just didn't suit the current managers style of play and in Bentancur's case that he was still playing an awful lot of games for them despite this. We have to remember Bentancur was not bought in for their current head coach and just fits better with other coaches style of playing

This is not true. He was bought during Allegris first stint as Juve manager. Nothing wrong with having different opinions on players, but don't make stuff up to fit your narrative. Bentancur signed in 2017 and Allegri left in 2019 but came back this season.

Apologies, I just knew he was bought prior to the current manager being appointed. Either way he was still playing pretty much week in week out up until he left. He certainly wasn't a reject which was the point I was making.

I am absolutely convinced that if we aren’t signing players like Prime Luka Modric, Moussa Dembele, Gareth Bale, etc. there will be a slew of people complaining and doing their best to find the weaknesses and use that as a stick to beat Paratici (bad scouting), Levy/ENIC (cheap bastards) or the player. It’s also part of why I feel like we don’t deserve good things and we are part of the problem more than many want to believe. We exude weakness as a fanbase, it seeps into the match day atmosphere from just about all accounts, and everyone just chalks it up to “But, Levy…” instead of actually controlling shit they can have an impact on (cheering the team/club, being supportive even when shit is not so great, etc.). In general, I Think a lot of our fanbase is cancerous, personally.

Sorry but I think thats ridiculous.
The squad has been really poorly managed over the last 5 yeas. Thats why we are where we are and the fanbase is disgruntled.
Your suggesting the tails wagging the dog.
It isn't. Fans have a part to play but its a small part. A very small part.

At the same time - signing those players is what we need to bring us back to the top.

We have seen the level of signings required and simply put, no one we have signed except possibly Romero has been anywhere near good enough since the 2016 title race.

Wanyama, Reguilon, and Lucas our only decent signings in that period and they were/are all flawed.

Watching PSG and Madrid.

Bentancur would not look out of place, neither would Romero.

Other than Kane, the majority of our team would look well out of place.

Get some more players technically sound and as light in their feet and we will be able to get close to this level again.

In the very limited time he's played so far I've seen off the top of my head at least 3 very good through balls between numerous opposition players to put players through on goal. Considering that's not supposed to be one of his main strengths, that's incredibly encouraging. Don't get mistaken into thinking he's supposed to be a creative force because he isn't. He's been here 5 minutes and getting used to the pace of the game, and his new team mates. No player is going to come into the Premier league from the slower paced Italian league, and after 2 hours of football be able to dictate the tempo of games.
Yup, the first time volley pass to Moura in his first game was insane. The ball through to son against wolves was very good. He has made good passes, numerous good midfielders play sideways and backwards, look at peps teams etc. people just want to hate on our players and are so negative after a couple of poor games where big mistakes cost us

Far from convinced about him, but hope he proves a great success.
Will need to see him play in a winning side, and play a key part in that win, before I start singing his praises
Hope it happens soon, let's see if happens at Burnley, cos it's not happening Saturday
Not one of FPs six signings has been a success so far. Him and Romero look the closest to being VFM or better, time will tell etc

The uber-rich clubs get away with making poor expensive signings because they don't need them to work out to have a successful team. We make mistakes and it shows.

Some examples of pretty ineffective recent signings:

Werner
Havertz
Ziyech
Pulisic
Mendy
Grealish
Ake
Ferran
Thiago
Keita
Sancho (so far)
Van de Beek
Would argue about Ziyech in that list. Think he has been good, would walk into our team.

I've no problem with sideways and backwards passes if they are the correct choice. Modric plays lots of sideways and backwards passes for instance. It's the old midfield metronome way of playing constantly keeping things ticking over, but playing forward when the time is right, and he's certainly shown he can do that. Those forward passes will become more frequent when he has better players and movement around him.

Also which Mendy? Surely not the keeper who helped Chelsea become European and World Champions.
I'd want statues of all the key players if Spurs ever managed such an amazing feat. Something which is clearly highly unlikely from the mediocrity we currently inhabit.

Him and Romero are excellent signings but sadly the only excellent signings under Don Paratici
Is it really that bad record considering he was here half of summer transfer window and winter window? Two best signings in 5 years and both made by him. So surely it is not that bad.
