Allegri was committing war crimes misusing Benta and Kulu. Such obvious class. Should be tried in The Hague. But thank fuck he did…

Does exactly what a high end central midfielder should do.

Think we all went temporarily mad after getting spoiled with Dembele, thinking a midfielder needs to be some bouncy-arsed ball carrying wizard but Benta is what we’ve been lacking for many years.

At

At first it was weird watching with no sound - but then, you settle into simply watching the player with no distractions, and you can be more objective and appreciative of what he's doing

Totally two footed, always looking around and anticipating, consistently making one touch passes into space or taking two touches max to move the ball on

The type of player who won't get the plaudits but is critical to the team's fluidity. What a player

He’s totally undroppable in my opinion, our best CM by an absolute mile. We are insanely lucky to have him and the money we paid for him is absolutely hilarious

Such a lovely weight of pass too, so the receiving player can fairly easily control it and do their thing. Lovely. It’s in the more hectic matches were that kind of thing doesn’t come off but yesterday was tailor made.

And now we’ve got Bissouma, to grant us the best of both worlds!

Really think those two could be amazing

Holjberg is a great option but this isn't any disrespect to him and Skipp is so underated but the Bentancuer and Bissouma pairing is so exciting.

The perfect combination.

Such balance snd awareness of everything around him. Seems to be facing all directions at once ! Actually remind me a bit of modric in that sense, albeit more physical and less technical.

Obviously Kane and son / kulu are so important to us but I feel he is the glue that sticks us together , very much like Dembele was for us . We are a much better team with him in the middle .

Kulusevski gets the headlines because of his goals and assists - but Bentancur has been no less important for our explosion in form since February. The kind of player that doesn't stand out so much themselves but makes the rest of their team mates perform better. Reminds me of Carrick who was one of the most underrated players of his generation

Perfect player for the system. What a choice we have in CM now with him, Bissouma, Hojbjerg and Skipp. I hope they all get a fair crack of the whip.

Really doesn’t get enough praise. If weren’t for him no way we’d got top four.
He transformed our midfield and play.

Top quality

Totally agreed with all the comments about him playing on the turn, remaining composed under pressure, passing well with both feet, picking the right pass (and right weight of pass) etc.

But the foundation for it all, IMO, is that he takes up good positions. And that’s all about intelligence and reading the game - along with a lifetime of being brought up in a football culture that expects it of a midfielder. He doesn’t just make himself available for his teammates……he makes himself available in positions from which opposition lines can be broken. We haven’t had that in a CM / DM since Modric.
